Who is he likely to kill on 610 other than himself? Pretty sure if he hits a car, he's the one going flying down the highway.

idiotic post. That chode and his expensive motorcycle are a missile of death at those speeds and will likely kill an innocent motorist/passenger upon impact.

Of course it's possible at those speeds and clearly the guy has a death wish. I'm not saying I condone the activity in any manner, but it doesn't seem that obvious to me that he is likely to hit someone head on. 1) For the most part he's slowing down to 130 mph or less around traffic; 2) he's traveling the same direction as traffic; and 3) the most likely scenario is that a car bumps him from the side in which case his forward inertia is less relevant. He's not hanging out in the right lane dodging olds coming 30 mph off the entry ramp.

Tell me you never took physics without telling me you never took physics.

Watch the video and look at the damage to that truck.

That driver or passenger in the truck might not have died in this case, or at least not at the scene.

It would be possible to knock another vehicle off course with a bike and cause them to crash bad enough to do so, or send them into the path of a tractor trailer or another vehicle and even have a rollover accident.

Vehicles don't have to hit head-on for there to be a fatality.

Good grief.

Annoying when there are tracks all over the place and people put lives at risk doing this on the highways. A regular driver going 70 getting clipped could easily lose control. Not to mention a multi car pileup is pretty much inevitable if you spin out or roll your car.

And yes the irony is that he'll probably get atomized by an illegal with paper plates and they won't even bother stopping before it's become a three-car-rope-train headed south to hose him off the back window.

Sheesh, y'all are acting like I'm the dude on the bike...I was merely commenting based on the driving patterns and conditions I observed in the original video and the likelihood he was going to kill someone given he should be hyper-focused on the road for his own self-preservation. Of course a collision doesn't have to be head-on to be fatal, and of course there are other idiots doing this who are even more irresponsible and in worse conditions. Let's just agree all of the above are bad/illegal/potentially fatal...

As for taking physics, I confess it has been the better part of two decades and I'm not an engineer by trade so I oversimplified things. I was considering it purely from a standpoint of: 1) very basic linear conservation of momentum; 2) simplifying the collision as perfectly inelastic assuming crumple zones are a thing (or else the bike goes flying and those forces are less relevant); 3) the two bodies are moving the same direction; and 4) the fact that an average sedan is ~10x heavier than a Ducati. I'm sure there is plenty wrong with that even from a simplified, classroom physics standpoint (I'm morbidly curious to know what exactly).

You may need to turn in your Ag tag for that

You're going 80 mph north. You get hit by something going 180 mph north. Guess what that's gonna feel like.

Crumple zones or not, all it takes is a little love tap or paint rub to spin you out of control into, oh I don't, the median, another car, the ditch.

And you're probably 100 times the size of a baseball. You want a fastball to the helmet?

He went clockwise…… not that impressed…. Counterclockwise around 610 is longer… that would be impressive. Just saying

He started at what looked like 610 and 45 south and went up the East loop, across the north, down the west loop and finished back on the south.

Moron. Years ago my coworker was zipping along the north Dallas tollway but not nearly that fast and got clipped by a car that sent him headfirst into a tollbooth. You can guess the outcome.

I'm honestly surprised that he didn't get absolutely wrecked by an Altima with paper plates on the west loop by a driver that wasn't paying attention.
Yeah if I tried this on the west loop in a car or bike going even 120 mph, a Nissan with paper plates would take me out in short order.

Didn't have exact change so they gave him a ticket?

This was a deal back in the 80s. I never took the ride, but it was said to be about 25 mins.

I had a sport bike in college and people in the A&M motorcycle club talked about guys out in Prairie View doing it, so it was still around in the early-00s.

I'm just shocked the entire loop wasn't up in flames from the sparks his balls left behind.

Also, it looks like he did it in the afternoon, but there was almost no traffic on the west loop, which makes me think this had to be like 7 am on a Sunday or something.

No, he went counter. You could tell by the west loop being at the end. He hit the rain around 610/SW Freeway interchange and had wet roads down through Bellaire.

Couple of things:

What this guy is doing is tame compared to Ghost rider. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghost_Rider_(motorcyclist)

Go-pro cameras make these things seem much more dangerous than they really are in person. I'm not saying he was safe, but he had a much better view of the road ahead and more space around him than it looks like in the video.

That is a very distinctive bike. Probably not more than a few dozen in all of Houston. I bet you could find out who this guy is pretty quick just by looking up who owns a Ducati Panagali V4S and cross reference that with dudes east texas twang.
