Speaking of "fine dining" in BSC back in the day, does anyone remember Oxford Street in Bryan, went there a few times for those special nights.

We loved Oxford Street so much! The steaks were fantastic, the salad bar great, and the atmosphere was so nice for being able to just talk to your dinner companion. I miss that place!

That place was like the Steak and Ale of BCS.

Anyone remember Bombay Bicycle Club? Wasn't that similar?

It *was* the Steak and Ale of B/CS after S&A closed in the same location.

And I remember Bombay, but I remember it being louder than SA/OS.

Eccell was Greek family. Capri Italian, and still open. So one is better than the other.
Cafe Eccell was originally an Italian guy, Donnie Anz, co-founder of the Dixie Chicken, Chicken Oil Co., and founder of Deuxe Burger Bar an La Taqueria.

I know he and his wife Cheryl sold Cafe Eccell. Maybe they sold it to Greeks.

I miss that place. It was awesome, not cheap, and always packed. Best place in CS to go for a celebration and a nice meal.

The last owners were Costa and Andreas Dallis. They eventually changed it to Public and Main (which was REALLY good), and then it shut down. They are also the owners of Burger MOJO and So Fly Chicken. I know they owned it for quite a while before they closed it.

I THINK they brought the strawberry tarts back at one of the burger MOJO locations. Costa posts on the Aggieland board occasionally.
Any idea why they shut it down? Did business fall off that much? Was the new location not the right mix maybe? Too bad either way. I'd have gone there many times if it were still open.

Property behind university (historic city hall building IIRC) was sold out from under them. They moved into the old Luby's on Texas near University, but the vibe was totally different.
