Scott Manley did a breakdown on the report and mentioned the dropping weights. However they only dropped a few, not enough to resurface, but enough to slow their descent. Sounds like a normal dive procedure.

I'm pretty confident there was no time to know anything was wrong. At those pressures and those materials, there's no "give" on anything. The first crack in the carbon fiber would lead to full failure immediately.

Dropped weights likely to slow the descent. They didn't drop anywhere near enough weights if they were trying to surface.

Zero evidence of this. Zero communication that there was a problem. Zero maneuvering to suggest there was a problem. As of right now it appears to all be speculation and narrative-pushing.

This would be a great risk management case to study. We conducted risk assessment and management in the army for all training events. What was most important were the catastrophic risks and how to mitigate them.
