Regular ties are boring - and move around too much when giving presentations. So bow ties have become my go to. And people just seem amazed I know how to tie them.

I personally think bow ties in the office are great. It makes it really easy to spot the people who think they matter but are actually irrelevant.

Bow ties are awesome.

Pre-tied bowties pretty much are total suckage.

Straight neckties are like a magnet for food when you are having a meal. Very expensive to have them cleaned, and many times the stain just won't come out of the fabric.

Have you considered following the recommendation of Emily Post and eating over your plate instead of dribbling food down your chest?

You have to tuck it into your shirt between a couple of chest level buttons.

Also, pull up close to the table and quit wearing short neckties or stop tying them so short they come up to table level.

Tie clips solve this problem.

OR just ditch ties altogether and leave your shirt unbuttoned a bit to flash that manly chest hair.

I always thought bow ties were perfect for C suite executives. As they spend 14-15 hours per day at work, one just knows they long to go to the company motor pool/maintenance center and help change the oil on company cars as an example to employees. Or satisfy that urge to scoop ice cream for customers at one of their stores. Bow tie stays out of the way of manual work.

1) Wedding and you're either a groom, groomsman, or father of the bride
2) High school prom
3) You're R. Bowen Loftin

Wearing a bowtie in any other instance is peak ******

For formal events, I wear bow ties all the time because they're awesome and I'm also an old engineer. But in this day and age, ties of any kind are pretty much an oddity in day to day wear.

Bow ties are still very much a thing over here. I have no idea why, but I think it's mostly with locals and other people from the southeast. There's a pretty strong overlap between people who rock those, and people who wear those fishing shirts that are open in the back.

Neither of those things make sense to me.
