Is it really all about the lyrics?

Taylor Swift is everywhere. I can't remember a pop star who has had this many people acting the way they are about her tour/music.

Agree. I don't get how a beautiful woman with a great voice who is very talented and has crossed multiple genres of music, that writes lyrics directly targeted at teens and young women and has continued to hammer out popular songs for coming up on 20 years, or an entire generation of said women is a thing either.

There was a TS show in Houston on Friday night. There were gaggles of women roving around downtown all dolled up and wearing sequined skirts and dresses excitedly getting drinks before heading off to the show.

Interesting phenomenon to watch as an outsider. But lots of good looking ladies trying to outdo each other in terms of attire. Definitely drives home the point that women aren't getting dressed up for their man. They're getting dressed up to compete with each other.

a pure guess, but I don't think its competition for a lot of people. Just a chance to wear whatever they feel comfortable in or what makes them feel good about themselves without being judged.


I went to a show in Arlington and it was probably the most positive atmosphere I have ever experienced at a concert of any genre. A lot of people dressed, but there were still many in just regular street clothes. People were complimenting each other on what they were wearing and I didn't run into a single a-hole or experience any rude people. If someone got too drunk, there were plenty of people willing to help them out. Ultimately everyone was just happy to have a good time.

The show itself was outstanding and very entertaining.

next you should go to a lizzo concert and report your findings. only seems fair

Taylor Swift is in the same category as Tic Toc dances. I don't understand the appeal.

Strong Independent wah-man who don't need no man

A woman who makes bad decisions regarding the men she dates and then comes off as an entitled piece of work while dating them.....then complains publicly about the bad decisions she made while putting her exes on blast and publicly ridiculing them and then screams about how it's always the man's fault while refusing to take responsibility for her part in the disasters of her personal life and then in the same breath says that all the drama she creates should be condoned and accepted because she is a strong independent woman who "doesn't need a man".

That doesn't sound like 90% of modern women at all. Not one little bit. She's definitely not the quintessential modern mess of a woman on display for other women to look at, admire, and emulate.

Women HATE it when other women reinforce their poor life choices ....... it's a TOTAL mystery why women love her.

I saw Taylor at the Cheyenne Frontier Days rodeo nearly 15 years ago. She was the largest draw outside of George Straight. She writes her songs and connects with her audience. My daughter has been a Swiftie for many years.

She saw her last night in Houston from up close.

Of all the problems with modern day entertainment, Taylor is refreshingly enjoyable. I'm glad her tour is going so well……

I've never heard a song. She's all over TV and seems nice enough. It isn't like I don't know who she is, but classic rock and "adult album alternative" radio don't play her, so I've never heard her.

My sister in law has literally gone to conventions for podcasters about TS. She freaked when the recent tour was announced and they were gonna be on vacation during the DFW show. Luckily for my brother, they were able to go to the Houston show this weekend.
