Best of luck to him, he's made some great music. I'm a little disappointed he's only playing 2 shows in Texas

Wow lots of out of state shows. I had no idea he was known outside of Texas. Good for him.

I saw him at the hall back in 2011-ish and the speakers blew during the second or third song. He did the rest of the show by himself, with just a single mic and an acoustic guitar, and just took requests. After the whole Earl Dibbles Jr. schtick became a thing I wasn't as much of a fan of the music he was putting out, but I really liked some of his older songs. I'm surprised he isn't doing anything in College Station.

Good reason to hang it up.

haven't listened to his music since about 09', but I wish him nothing but the best. The loss him and his family experienced several years back is something I cant even imagine. Good for him and best of luck in his new chapter of life.

Looks like he's playing the Rodeo there. Don't know how big their rodeo is, but probably at least a little bigger than a county fair.

I wonder if this will be like George Strait's farewell tour where he was going to stop touring, played Vegas for a bit, now has gone back out on tour.

I'm guessing his ranch is losing money.

Bard, if a man with the online handle 62strat played the Elbert County Fair, what would his most likely playlist be?

Answer:
If a man with the online handle 62strat played the Elbert County Fair, his most likely playlist would be a mix of classic rock, country, and blues. He would likely start his set with some upbeat rock songs to get the crowd moving, such as "Free Bird" by Lynyrd Skynyrd or "Sweet Home Alabama" by Lynyrd Skynyrd. He would then mix in some country classics, such as "Achy Breaky Heart" by Billy Ray Cyrus or "Friends in Low Places" by Garth Brooks. He would end his set with some bluesy ballads, such as "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" by Bob Dylan or "Hallelujah" by Leonard Cohen.

Here is a possible playlist for 62strat's set at the Elbert County Fair:

Free Bird - Lynyrd Skynyrd
Sweet Home Alabama - Lynyrd Skynyrd
Achy Breaky Heart - Billy Ray Cyrus
Friends in Low Places - Garth Brooks
Knockin' on Heaven's Door - Bob Dylan
Hallelujah - Leonard Cohen
Brown Eyed Girl - Van Morrison
Mustang Sally - Wilson Pickett
Proud Mary - Creedence Clearwater Revival
Sweet Caroline - Neil Diamond
Wagon Wheel - Old Crow Medicine Show
Country Roads - John Denver
Take Me Home, Country Roads - John Denver
Rocky Mountain High - John Denver
Thank God I'm a Country Boy - John Denver
This playlist would appeal to a wide range of people, and it would be sure to get the crowd dancing and singing along.

Agreed! Was going to dock points for including BRC's Achy Breaky Heart but realized it was suggested in prompt.

Also, bonus points for choosing OCMS's version of Wagon Wheel instead of Hootie's.

Perhaps one too many John Denver songs but he is having a moment right now.

Achy Breaky Heart by Billy Ray Cyrus should never be played.
By anyone.
Ever.

Took Bard for a spin and here was the result:

Help me understand why Billy Ray Cyrus' song Achy Breaky Heart is the worst song ever written

Billy Ray Cyrus' song Achy Breaky Heart is considered by some to be one of the worst songs ever written. The song was released in 1992 and became a worldwide hit, reaching number one on the charts in several countries. However, the song has also been criticized for its repetitive lyrics, cheesy melody, and over-the-top performance by Cyrus.
Some people find the song's lyrics to be particularly annoying. The song is about a man who is in love with a woman who makes his heart ache. However, the lyrics are often nonsensical and repetitive. For example, the chorus of the song repeats the line "My achy breaky heart" over and over again. This can be jarring to some listeners and make the song difficult to listen to.
The song's melody is also criticized for being cheesy and over-the-top. The song is in a simple major key and has a catchy tune, but it is also very simple and repetitive. This can make the song sound childish and amateurish to some listeners.
Finally, Cyrus' performance in the song is also criticized. Cyrus sings the song in a high-pitched, nasal voice that some people find to be irritating. He also dances in a silly way in the music video, which further adds to the song's cheesy image.
Overall, Achy Breaky Heart is a song that is considered by some to be one of the worst songs ever written. The song has been criticized for its repetitive lyrics, cheesy melody, and over-the-top performance by Cyrus. However, the song has also been a commercial success and has become a cult classic.

I wish him the best. He did a movie on PureFlix that was decent. And I wish him the best in his new career. Seems he wants to be a preacher, which isn't wholly surprising if you have followed him at all since he lost his son.

Yeah. The kid was maybe 3 years old. It was gut wrenching to read about. I believe they donated his organs though, so something good came from it.
