Saw a friend post on Facebook that he waited almost three hour sto eat at Goldee's here close to my house.



I was shocked as I cannot imagine wasting that much time to stand in line for barbeque.

I'll admit, it looks awesome. But it's almost as if people WANT to say they waited many hours as some sort of badge of honor. I think it's just borderline insanity.

Goldees is great. Went there alot prior to the Texas Monthly article. Havent been back since. They do have free beer for your wait though.

No. I waited over 3 hours at a place in Seattle my partner wanted to go to for our anniversary. It was pretty good, but the wait subtracted substantially from the enjoyment. I want to try Franklin's BBQ in Austin one of these days, but have better things to do than wait in line that long.

If you bring some chairs and have cold ones with the boys in the parking lot while you wait, sure. No time is wasted that is spent having a C1WTB's.

waited 3-4 hours for Franklin's and one time had to wait 5.5 hours for Snow's (didn't realize it was Tootsie's birthday weekend + re-opening after covid + the recent Netflix special about her aired...OOF).

Both times were worth it. Good people, good stories, good beer and cocktails, and then incredible bbq.

We waited for an hour and a half at Smitty's in Lockhart, but the wait at Black's was probably gonna be twice that.

Some people do it. I never have. I guess if you show up prepared to just hang out with chairs and drinks then it's OK. I live 20 mins from Snows and after it got discovered I haven't bothered.

I work 10 minutes from franklins and drive by and check out the line forming at like 8am in nice weather, but people seem to be enjoying themselves.

We've got a BBQ joint here that kicks ass. Every time I eat there I remember standing in line in the heat in downtown Dallas for Pecan Lodge and how much of a time waste it was.

407 BBQ in Argyle.

I've eaten at both of those and maybe waited 3-5 minutes each time. In my opinion, neither of them are worth more than a 10 minute wait.

LOL - that's a family meal. 225 BBQ does these hybrid bbq/mexican street food platters. Here's a regular meal.

I stopped by the Black's in NB one time. Apply named; Blakkkk! What I got taste just like oven roasted cow fat with no smoke scent whatsoever.

I'm one of those brisket snobs, but you guys have got to be kidding me this.

One day last spring wife and I were in the area of Goldees and drove by and for some reason there was no line outside. We walked right in, 4 or 5 people ahead of us. I have driven by there several times since then and the line is always very long.
Ribs and brisket was very good but I will not wait 3 hours for it or any other food.

Drinking beer in the parking lot for 2 hours with friends waiting for a table at Country Inn at the old Somerville location back in the 90's was worth every second

I think it's all about perspective.

I live in East Tennessee...and the best BBQ in this area is what I smoke on my Weber Smoky Mountain. Granted, everyone say's it's great, but I'd love me some really good Texas BBQ. I'd give my eye teeth to eat at Franklin's, Snow's, or Goldie's. Maybe someday I will. But for this 'outsider,' I'd gladly endure the wait.

3 or 4 or 5 hour wait to eat a meal? Heck, I would cook it myself, save some money and, if I felt the need, I could sneeze on my own food just as many times as they do in the restaurant.
