Evidence though says most absolutely do.

What do you consider "pop culture"?

TexAgs?
Bro Country?
Cargo Shorts with a baseball cap and New Balance shoes?

Don't we all, if not immediately than eventually? Even my grandfather quit wearing his high waisted dress pants and switched to relaxed denim. Those high waisted dress pants may look very retro cool now but back in the 80s and 90s it was like uhhh does he really have to wear these...

Not me. I'm shopping for overalls like my grandfather, "Big Daddy", use to wear.

Uh, if it's not immediately, is it still pop culture?

What is popular culture for a late 30s male?

As a 66 year old married man that got married when I was 54 and too old to change, and doesn't participate in any social media (if you exclude texags and TBH) then the answer is a definite no. Don't need to dress hip to attract someone of the opposite sex because the rib accepts me as I am. I could care less what friends and family outside of the wife think as far as whether I am "hip" or not.

I do but I am 40 years behind. Just got a new pair of parachute pants to wear when I go breakdancing this weekend.

Careful with that boom box though. At your age, it'd be pretty easy to throw out your back. Make sure to give it equal time on each shoulder.

That reminds me. I need to go get a ****load of D batteries from the store and pick up some Run DMC on cassette.

Yes, I suppose I do in some ways.

I listen to new songs that come out and if I like them, I update my playlists.

I watch new movies/shows and if they look interesting to me, then I watch them.

If I hear of a new recipe or restaurant, then I usually give it a try.

IMO, OP's question is too vague because "pop culture" is too broad and because "shape your life" is also too general.

Of course. Takes a toll on the bank account to constantly update, but it should be ok once I make it as an influencer. Can't make money without investing in professional-grade streaming equipment now can you?

You were embarrassed by what your grandfather wore. That says a lot about you and nothing about him.

My grandfather wore high waisted slacks his entire life, never owned a pair of jeans. Church dress pants, moved down to house dress pants, moved down to yard work dress pants. And as a high school kid in the 90's anytime i got the chance to go someplace with him I was damn proud to do it. High waisted dress pants and all.

Putting the dollar sign after the number is 100% evidence of being influenced by pop culture

It is one of the most annoying things I have started to see in the last few years. So aggravating.

Sadly, I'm pretty guilty of letting pop culture influence my life. I make a strong effort not to get involved or be influenced by pop culture at all, which means that it has a significant influence on me.

I steadfastly refuse to listen to Taylor Swift or any country song containing rap, I use words like "steadfastly", I use capital letters and periods when I text, I don't watch Marvel movies (anymore), and the clothes I wear.... well, I actually don't know anything about modern fashion, so I'm not sure how I'm doing there, but I'm pretty sure I'm not "in style". At all.

As a middle aged man, I have long known the secret of tshirt and jeans.
