"When you're at the end of your rope and ready to give up, just remember, you've overcome the hardest days/circumstances of your life so far. You can do it again." It sounds dark, but when I say it (or some variation based on the setting), it's in a matter-of-fact, upbeat tone meant to instill confidence in the person despite their perceptions of the task/obstacle/etc.

I would half jokingly give that "advice" to my kid's friends as they graduated from high school. More of a "dad" thing than anything else, but perhaps there's value to the thought.

As the father of a large family, I would hope it would be something wise and/or humorous, but it would most likely be something like, "Where the hell are your shoes, we were supposed to leave 15 minutes ago!!"
