Increased use of marijuana/drugs/alcohol?
Less fruit and vegetable consumption in diets?
More fried/fast food in diets?

I don't recall as a 20-something that restaurants served the enormous-sized portions of food they serve today, there was less weed usage and it was much less potent, and we got a LOT more exercise.

-Binge drinking causes the eso****eal sphincter to deteriorate over time

-Deterioration of the the eso****eal sphincter leads to heartburn

-Heartburn leads to taking Tums

-Tums causes constipation

-Constipation causes hemorrhoids

-Chronic hemorrhoids leads to colon cancer

In conclusion, higher rates of binge drinking are leading to higher rates of colon cancer

Alcohol consumption is a component.

More sedentary lifestyle.

Obesity on the rise for years and years.

Crapton of processed foods and the chemicals in all the stupid energy drinks. Could be a factor.

Smoking. Still an issue. Vaping is bad for the lungs. We don't know how it might affect other organs. Or if we know it's not widely publicized.

Overly processed foods as main component of diets is likely the biggest factor.

Weed usage my ass. There's no link between mj consumption and increased incedence of cancer..

It's the colon. The link is much more likely to be diet. My father died from it, and I've been on the lookout for it since he died.

Is it only this type of cancer or all cancers?

I've started to winder if modern medicine's ability to keep at-risk pregnancies alive has resulted in a population more prone to certain diseases. A baby that would've died a few decades ago will now live a long life. Same thing with all the methods that a couple that couldn't previously have kids can now have multiples. Is the overall health of the species declining? Answers to these questions could get political too, which means it's even harder to get to the truth. Likely, the answers to these questions will remain sealed away in a pharmaceutical executive's files.

The same carcinogens in tobacco combustion are present in marijuana combustion.

From what I've read, statiscally, drinking has decreased in later generations. Moreso in European countries, but even in the U.S. it's down from what it has been. A lot of people are practicing sobriety.

Restaurants have jacked up prices 100% and also portion sizes 50%. So you think you are getting more. As I get older, I cannot and do not want to eat as much in one sitting. So my wife and I go out and order ONE dish and split it. Good enough for both of us. She prefers veggie most of the time so I go along with it usually.
Of course I get to pay ha ha.

Earlier than that even. Pops died my Zip year , about 1 month after Final Review. He was 62. I got scoped for the first time at 31. My most recent one was late last year. I'm so paranoid about it, I won't let them give me general anesthesia. I go with a local because I want to see the screen while it's happening. Not that I don't trust them, but I regularly say 'What's that? What was that?' I want to be actively engaged and be my own advocate for my health. I've had a series of brain tumors, so I'm a bit more educated about this stuff by my experience and self education. I've seen them pull a couple of polyps for pathology. No cancerous tissue. (SO FAR!!)

My Dad smoked basically his whole life. You'll never convince me tobacco use didn't play a part in his death.

Smoking cigarettes is the absolute most stupid thing you can do. Lost my Mom, oldest Sister, oldest Brother, multiple Aunts and Uncles, ALL from smoking. I watched my Mom die a horrible, horrible death, gasping for breath. But go ahead, by all means, keep sucking that butt. One day you'll see.

All meat is drenched in hormones, genius... animals are living creatures with functional endocrine systems. Unless you're slaughtering animals immediately after implanting them, they've already metabolized the hormones and have pissed out the byproducts.

And not as many beef animals are implanted as you think. Chickens, I can't speak for.

One of the reasons I posted this topic is the basic issue of gut health. Several years ago I developed some minor acid reflux and decided to eat a lot more oatmeal (overnight oats are the best!) , fruits, veggies and drop soda consumption. I also started drinking buttermilk and eating yogurt more frequently.

However, while a few small, uncontrolled studies have suggested that heavy, regular marijuana smoking could increase risk for respiratory cancers, well-designed population studies have failed to find an increased risk of lung cancer associated with marijuana use.67

Cell culture and animal studies have also suggested THC and CBD may have antitumor effects, and this has been proposed as one reason why stronger expected associations are not seen between marijuana use and lung cancer, but more research is needed on this question.67

From your link.

I'm not denying those substances are there. Clearly they are, but they don't have evidence of a cause and effect for a cancerous outcome.

As mentioned, smoking cannabis is not the universal way to use it anymore. There's been a high proliferation of edibles, and this eliminates the burn based chemicals found in smoking. They are very popular. Many people just don't like smoking, but like the effects, so they take edibles.
