I hate shopping for menswear. I feel like it's become such a niche thing that I'm more or less shaken down every time I have to buy a suit.

I'd go to Jos A Bank and the Men's Wearhouse. Find a suit at each place that you like and try to get a total/final price out of them (good luck with that, BTW). Go with the cheaper suit.

I ended up getting a Ralph Lauren
Black classic fit suit for $231 before tax that was on sale, had a coupon, and opened up a Macy's credit card to get the full discount.

When you say "men's suit" don't you really mean a pair of slacks and coat that only goes with those slacks?

Dillard's has decent suits for a decent price and sales often. I've bought probably 10 sport coats there. I dont think it can hurt to look there. I would NOT go to jos a bank.

That's how they do pants.

Go down to Nordstrom and get measured for an Indochino suit. They plug your measurements in and some Chinese robot cuts the suit. Takes a few weeks to get it, but it's good quality and a great value.
