4 part docu-series on Netflix. Small guy takes on Pepsi. I found it entertaining. And....Yes, I think he should have gotten the jet.

Yes. I was stationed at West Ft Hood in 1976. Robert Gray Army Airfield was located right by our facilities and one afternoon I stepped outside and we saw this hovering fighter. They were demonstrating it for the Air Force and Army as a ground support/strike aircraft. The Marines, of course, saw its potential and bought it. It performed very well in the South Atlantic against Argentina.

I thought the advertisement was clearly a joke at the time, and I was only a kid.

Tough call. The harrier wasn't actually listed in the terms and conditions of the contest.

That said, that litigation is why literally everything that isn't actual gambling has fine print on the box listing the odds of everything. If you don't believe me, just look at the back of a pack of baseball cards. It will say stuff like "odds of finding an autographed green foil verlander getting a handy from Kate under a jacket at a charity gala while keeping a straight face seated across from Jim crane is 1 out of 235,433."

IIRC, that's what GAC06 flew...

Seems like a good jet to learn on! The vertical landing option should be easier than landing a traditional jet, yes?

Alright.

I'll go ahead and spring for lessons when I win the powerball and buy a Harrier.

Maybe call Art Nalls. He used to have the only civilian owned Harrier, but he may be done now.

Can't imagine the expense that goes into keeping it flying. Thing burns almost four gallons a minute on the ground at idle.

Thanks for the tip.

I'll get a P-51 Mustang instead.

Nah...

if you want VTOL, just get a used V-22 (just kidding, you can't). Those are easy to fly, though.

But with enough money you can buy anything, no?

You CAN get an AW609, which was developed from the V22 for civilians.

Alright!

All I have to do is win a lottery and I'm all set!

Best part is I can park it in the backyard!

Well...not FROM the V-22.

But, it's the same concept. It's a tilt-rotor.

Bell developed the XV-3 back in the 50s and that's where they both came from.

The V-22 and AW609 are actually world's apart technically.

Just whatEVER you do, do NOT buy a Robinson helicopter. My TEST PILOT friends swore they'd never get in one because they didn't trust them.

I recently saw a Robinson from S TX on a trailer in Waco. The rotor was slapping the tail every time it hit a bump.
