Never understood the hate for Subway. You choose the bread, cheese, toasted/untoasted, meats, veggies, dressing, seasonings….. If it sucks, it's pretty much on you.

Their bread is absolute garbage and their ingredients are very low grade. It's the Walmart of sandwiches.

In some places Subway is not legally allowed to call the "bread" bread.

Subway was good in Saudi, though. A highlight of the week to go on Wednesdays.

The story behind this is that Ireland taxes food depending on if it is considered a staple food (like bread) or an "indulgence" food, and they have definitions for what fits into each category. Subway's bread has a bunch of added sugar that makes it fall out of the staple category, so they deemed it "not bread" and thus tax it like a junk food.

I've been to Gino's Deli and Zito's. Agree with you that they both have some of the best sandwiches I've ever had. Took a friend who was born and raised in Philly. He conceded that the cheese steak at Gino's rivaled the very best Philly has to offer.

If he was going to Gino's or Pat's in Philly he should like any other cheese steak. Those two did not come close to living up to the hype.

Little mom and pop places in Philly were better than those two.

I doubt someone born and raised in Philly is going to Gino's or Pat's. San Antonio Gino's deli is the real deal and on par with Places like Tony Luke's

They have on on Kuykendal in Spring too so I guess they're a chain not to mention fabulous.
