Just turned to the Weather Channel to see the update on Hurricane Ian. Can anyone explain to me why they insist on putting reporters out in the elements to report? Do they think we don't believe them if we don't have a person getting hammered by the wind and rain? Have never understood the reason for this.

I feel guilty because I secretly hope Ian hits 158 so it can claim Category 5 status. I'm I alone, or just sick? As soon as it hits 158 I want it to immediately decrease drastically.

it's entertainment, they are all looking for ratings. This is basically sweeps week for these channels

Fox Weather is free, its on Roku live, Tubi and you can watch live at foxweather.com.
They have good coverage, and the website is very comprehensive.

I agree its somewhat ridiculous.

I have always liked Stephanie Abrams, but seeing her during the hurricane coverage showed how much makeup she uses in the studio.

Doesn't compare to Charlie. We had 20x more debris in 2004. 8' to 10' high x 8' deep x 60' wide (lot is 75' wide)

There are no roof tarps and didn't lose power in S.Orlando. Charlie had 105mph sustained winds and it was the only time I've ever heard the 'freight train' sound associated with a tornado. This was much easier.
