Rabbit jambalaya at Coop's Place.
Crab cheesecake at Palace Cafe (savory, not sweet).

Don't wear open-toed shoes. I'm always amazed at how many people don't understand this.

That sounds terrible, absolutely terrible

and what's wrong with open-toed shoes? Human **** in the streets?

Nowhere will you find filthier streets than the French Quarter. Wading boots are recommended and spray with bleach when you arrive.

It's not as bad as San Francisco…

In San Fran you have a better chance of getting a hypodermic sticking out of your toe. In NO you have a better shot of getting a bodily fluid on your toes. Pick your poison. Snake boots, sobriety and a good knife recommended in either craphole.

2nd'g GW Fins and Mr. B's

Paschal Manales
Commanders
Pelican Club
Dragos
Brennans

All great

I issued to frequent Ricks during Mardi Gras, but Hustler Club is a new favorite

Third vote for GW Fins! Their menu changes daily, and it's always delicious.

We went once where they had a key lime martini on the menu and it wasn't the next time, but they still made it for us. One of the best cocktails ever, tastes just like key lime pie.

if near the Convention Center then Cochon Butcher.

Drink at Napoleon House and Lafitte's Blacksmith shop, Sazerac Bar at The Roosevelt

Galitoire's
Revolution
Mr B's
Irene's
GW Fins

Best Po-boy in NOLA is Parkway, but its not close to the convention center or the quarter. Best in the quarter are Johnny's, Killers, and NOLA po boys (NOLA is right down the street from Lafitte's so it has that going for it).

Thank you. For some reason I was having such a hard time remembering where I went the last time I was in New Orleans.

We walked there for lunch a couple of trips ago and it was all it was cracked up to be. We may go to Dooky Chase this time, catty-corner to Willie Mae's.

Went there for my bachelor party...which was far better than the wedding or the marriage.

Got thrown out of this place:

Went the Larry Flynt's Hustler...pretty sure we got thrown out of there too.

Got Shark Attacks at Tropical Isle or whatever it was called. That was fun.

Went to the purportedly oldest bar in the US...

Got thrown out of there too.

Very near the convention center:

Cochon Butcher for lunch or casual dinner. Excellent sandwiches and specials

Cochon next door for dinner.

Go to either or both, you won't be disappointed

I've been to the Harrah's a handful of times and have managed to lose money there every single time. In fact, the most money I ever lost at a casino was there.
You must have had too many hurricanes, or are bad at gambling. The most money I ever won at a casino was there.

Doubt you'll have time but if you have a spare afternoon (or day) check out the WW2 museum. It's really impressive.

As for evening/ night activities, do all the stuff they mentioned above.

I even tried to push my flight back so I could do it before I leave on Friday, but the times just don't work out. Bummed about that. I've heard it's great.

We go every six months and we always hit these:

Johnnys Po boys
Coops (don't look in the kitchen when you go to the bathroom!)
galitiores
Felixes

Then we normally try a new place each time. These are always on our list.

Pascal Manale's bbq shrimp & bread pudding.(on Napolean) Some kinda adult beverage on the front porch of the Four Columns Hotel on St. Charles. Any dive Italian joint on a neighborhood corner is pretty damn good. Single in Harahan in '85 was a good time!
