Like the Indy 500. We = the average global informed person like in Texags. Seems like Indy 500 name comes up once and thats it. F1...that there be a European sport like Cricket.

I like F1. You want to talk F1? F1: pretty cool, eh?

F1 is like a nice steak house, Indy is like a longhorn steakhouse and NASCAR is a applebees. Unfortunately nascar is more popular in the states, but not for long. F1 is on the up & coming

I just don't see much of a market in the States for F1. The only die hard race fans here are NASCAR and that mostly comprises of your southern, redneck skewing populations and that isn't going to translate to F1. I mean, the Indy500 used to mean something here and now hardly anyone watches it live. Formula cars just ain't gonna catch on. Way too many competing sports here and specifically NASCAR.

But I suppose it will continue to have a niche following that may grow a tiny bit, but never become mainstream.

You just not be paying attention, COTA in Austin. Miami GP just happened, I was in Miami at the time, it was stupid packed. Now we have Vegas coming up in the fall. F1 has more esteem and class as well as attraction to high society types than nascar does or will

F1 is awesome. What do you want to talk about?

And yeah, its going to get much more popular now that there are 3 races here (more than any other country), and it has the sex appeal that Indy (and definitely NASCAR) will never have.

I really enjoy NASCAR, except when they do road races. Yuck. So Euro.

You don't know what you're talking about. Netflix and videogames have it exploding in the US, and F1 itself is moving more races to the states to accommodate American interest/investment. Viewrship in the US has doubled following the netflix series.

"Coverage of Sunday's Formula One Miami Grand Prix on ABC averaged 2.6 million viewers, marking the largest U.S. audience ever for a live F1 telecast, ESPN announced Tuesday. The previous record for a live race telecast was 1.744 million for the 1995 Brazilian Grand Prix on ESPN.

Sunday's race wasn't the most-viewed F1 telecast in U.S. history, however. The same-day delayed broadcast of the 2002 Monaco Grand Prix on ABC, which followed the Indianapolis 500 telecast, averaged 2.784 million viewers, ESPN said."

"Miami is actually the second American race: The US Grand Prix, run in Austin, Texas, since 2012, saw a 15 percent increase in attendance in the first year of "Drive to Survive," with 250,000 fans attending the race a number on par with a typical Kentucky Derby crowd. In 2021, that number had grown to over 400,000, making it the largest crowd at a Formula 1 race anywhere in the world, ever."

Cool beans, dude. You keep waving that F1 flag and get back to me in 10 years. I'm willing to be the audience for a live race never tops 3 million live viewers.

Impressive following I guess, but like I said, niche. But I'm glad you're super into it and take the time to edit your response multiple times. Shows just how dedicated you are to the sport!

Monaco Grand Prix next weekend and I'm very excited. Probably a good choice for first F1 race

400,000 in attendance is niche. Got it. Its okay to be wrong. Dont be a ***** about being wrong though

Right. And hundreds of thousand folks attend NASCAR races but that doesn't necessarily mean that it's an important sport in the US. I guess it can be popular among race fans, but isn't ever going to permeate the national sports consciousness.

Let's be honest, F1 is behind 5 or 6 other sports and ain't going to be passing them ever. Major League Lacrosse has a better shot of doing that than F1.

Not knocking it, just think you're overestimating it's popularity a bit based of one race.

Love your enthusiasm, though!

F1 races are popular with people that don't even like racing, it's become a social status event. Nobody wants to go sit next to barb & earl chugging a six pack of natural kite in Daytona
scd88
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Barb and Earl tend to be really nice people.
BJM1781

OK, I can get with that and see the social event aspect of the whole thing. I would probably much rather be at a crowd for an F1 race and did noitce all the celebrity appearances in Miami.

You just gotta ignore the confederate flag on their truck and most of their opinions about pretty much anything and you can get along great with them.

You know nothing about my life! I have actually been in a coma for the past 12years. I heard we had a QB who won a Heisman? Still super pissed I missed all that.

Millenials are in their late 30's and early 40's now

Guess it depends on who you ask. I'm in that age group and sure as hell have never been considered a Millennial.

So what's the next generation called? I can't keep up.
