I reloaded the website before starting today's game, and finally saw the update y'all were taking about with the <10km or whatever. I'm glad they added the option of miles or km.

Amazing how many start with Egypt. Personally, I think it's too centrally located and reduces the effectiveness of the distance early on. Also, I try to avoid large countries that border a lot of other countries, such as Brazil or Russia. I think these countries make it harder to pinpoint your next guess when you have a border country. I always start with Spain. I might need to switch to Portugal now, though.

Today's answer puts me under 6 on average. What's your strategy?

My strategy is start with Egypt and then approximate the distance on the map based on the distance to the closest border provided by the Globle clue after my guess.

At that point it's more about which direction to go.

I start with that country or Brazil most of the time

I start with Turkey every day. After that, you know on the 2nd guess whether you are in the right hemisphere. My 2nd guess I vary in cardinal direction based on distance from my first guess. Then just go from there.
