Is there something wrong with yoga pants?

Some would say that they're too form fitting.

At what time do you post pictures of the moms in the room wearing yoga pants?

BMI is a much more important criteria than age

I'm pretty modest and dress myself and my kiddo pretty modest but if she's wearing a longer-ish shirt I have no issues with them unless she turns out fatty

My 2 year old wears leggings, which are essentially yoga pants...

My daughter is 8 going on 16 and wears leggings. We have started talking to her about wearing modest clothing. Most of the time she wears shorts or a skirt over her leggings. I pretty much don't pay attention to what she wears. I let my wife do that, but she does have at least 3 wardrobe changes a day.

So what age? Hell if I know. We will have that fight soon enough I guess.

I wore "dance pants," aka yoga pants all the time in middle school and high school. It was actually part of my game day uniform when I was on drill team. Never had an issue with it. Our cheerleader-esque game day dresses were way more revealing. Does anybody actually think yoga pants are the issue? Or is it the fact that teenagers are all raging hormones?

As for disgusting older men looking at younger girls… that's an issue with the man, and not the girl. Teach girls to be aware their surroundings, and that it's ok to say "no" to adults, and don't shame her into staying quiet by making her think her clothes are the issue.

Volleyball shorts are worse; they might as well just be walking around in swimsuit bottoms.

This. My eight year old wears yoga pants or athletic leggings to dance classes and theater rehearsals. If someone sexualizes that, then they're really effed up and seriously shouldn't be interacting with society at all.

I just make sure to diet shame mine so they'll look good in them

I'm guessing somehow she got her learner's permit and is going to spend the next 7+ years bugging dad to take her driving.

My 3 daughters wear potato sacks any time we go in to public. The 5 year old has taken to it pretty well. The 4 year old still complains about the itch some. It makes it pretty easy to change the baby's diapers though.

Daughter wore them in high school when she absolutely had to..and that was for cross country or track meets where it was really cold. Other than that, she had no desire..and continues to have no desire to wear them.

As someone that dated a high school volleyball player and married her I could not disagree more.


On the yoga pant issue, I don't think it's the actual pants, it's what else is involved. Like if she's wearing a long shirt, shorts, or a skirt over them I don't have an issue.

It's when she wants to wear a short top that shows her butt the whole time that I have an issue.

And quit making this just a mother/daughter discussion. I draw the line at undergarments, but anything that anyone else would see is on the table for discussion.

Words of advice… be very careful that your talks don't cause her to feel shame about her body. There's nothing wrong with it - no matter what she looks like, at ANY age. It's not her fault that guys can't keep their ogling eyes to themselves. And 8 is a delicate age. Goooood luck!
