The most amazing thing to me - Glen Campbell didn't know how to read music.

"It seemed like he could play any genre of music. He could do The Mamas And The Papas and he could do Andy Williams or Frank Sinatra. It was easy, he could learn a song in two seconds. He didn't read music, but he would hear it and then, boom, he would start out."

. Neither could EVH. They actually had to come up with new notes/music to document some of his solos.

Roy Clark absolutely shredding Malaguena on an acoustic for The Odd Couple. The frame rate of regular studio cameras couldn't keep up with his right hand.

That looks like a Martin HD-28 he is playing. I have the same model, but it's never been played quite like that.

Funny story about Campbell, playing on the Frank Sinatra recording session for "Strangers in the Night."

Campbell was in awe of Sinatra, and couldn't help staring at him through the entire session. Sinatra apparently noticed, and Campbell thought he had made a good impression on the singer.

But after they were done recording, Sinatra asked the producer, Jimmy Bowen, who the "*** guitar player was." Sinatra thought Campbell was gay, and trying to flirt with him.

I think people either forget or don't know that Campbell was a session musician with the Wrecking Crew (look them up) before hitting it big as a solo musician. His musicianship was very well documented before his country stardom. He even played on The Beach Boys Pet Sounds (universally believed to be one of the best albums of all time).
Campbell toured as a member of the Beach Boys, too, replacing Brian Wilson in 1964. Wilson wanted to stay home and write songs, and Campbell filled in for him.

This seems appropriate. Just wish the audio quality was better.

Found the wrecking crew film, it was well worth it. Amassing how one member played on 9 straight no 1 hits in the 60s

When we went to LA in 2017 for the UCLA game, we went to Riviera Country Club, the morning of the game for breakfast and just to see the place. There was more Campbell memorabilia there than for any other Hollywood star. He was a King there. Just surprised me a little as I didn't realize/remember how big a star he was.

The LA Open has been played at Riviera for generations. For 10-15 years, the PGA tournament was known as Glen Campbell LA Open.
