How long do you want to ignore this user?
Over the years I have noticed something and it's picking up steam.

I talk to my make friends and they tell me how hard it is to find a senior level job in the line of work that we are in. But then I look at 4 of my female former-classmates who are in the same city and in the same line of work and they are all VPs. One is now C-level. None of us guys are C-level or even VPs. It's hard to even get to Director.

The other one is of college admissions. My son is a senior in high school and he has good grades and all that and we are hoping that he gets into one of the top Engineering schools. You know, MIT, Stanford, Berkeley, CMU etc. We know some folks whose kids have gotten in, including my cousin's kid who got into Stanford last year. A neighbor's kid got into CMU. Another neighbor's kid got into Berkeley but ended up going to UCLA. Then another kid got into Harvard. Amazing, huh? Then I woke up to the realization that all of them were girls. There was just 1 boy who is a friend's friend's kid who got into Harvard. I asked my cousin what got his daughter into Stanford and he waffled, said he wasn't sure. I googled, could not find her name in anything as a big achievement.

I look at Linkedin and see many women get promoted every 1-2 years. A few profiles I have seen started work in 2012 and are already VPs.

What is going on?

Are women just smarter than men and with opportunity now, are outshining men?
Are boys gets dumber by the year?
Is this part of a larger movement to sideline males and prop up females everywhere?

Come on. You're a white male. You know the answer to this one.

Companies only have to pay women 80% of what males make, so why not?

Your son / males needs to apply or start identifying as "questioning". He will get in everywhere. When asked about it, just tell them it was a phase at the time he filled out the application.

And that's the problem with men, Patty. The Y gene is just an incomplete X chromosome, dig? A man is an incomplete female, just a walking abortion!

The few remaining men will exist as studs, breeding in the cow pasture, or they can go off to the nearest suicide center where they will be quietly gassed to death.

/Modern women, probably

A lot of women are genuinely top performers in our org, can think of a couple I'd respect more than my current EVP who is a buffoon.

But we have also seen some women who were wafted to the top in HR and similar depts, given titles way out of whack with their responsibilities.

Hopefully white men can overcome the obstacles in society today, I cant even imagine what it's like. So sad.

60% of US undergrads are female.

Old white males are doing fine. The young ones? Not so much anymore, by some metrics.

This was happening back in the early 2010s when I was working for a big O&G service company. Used to think the complaints were the fringe and brushed them off,

Girl came in as entry level job, 6 months later she's an account rep with an office job in Houston. She was promoted over many others working in the field that had more experience.

Same in Denver except even worse she was put in a department she had no experience. Another dude I know did a technical presentation and the company asked him to give it to a woman so she could present it to show "diversity."

I got a new role and the manager was told that he needed to "hire more women" even though the percentage of women as part of the team were already greater than the % of female engineers coming out of school.

I'm sure some women can throw some anecdotes my way as well. Point is it goes both ways - young men today shouldn't be held responsible for the past.

We may or may not be pressured to promote women into leadership roles despite whether they are the best candidate or not.

So my take is, if I gotta hire someone that's gonna do a bad job it might as well be the one with the biggest swangers.

There are smart women and smart men just as there are dumb women and dumb men. Women are coming into professions in greater numbers and the smart ones are parlaying the desire to hire women into a way to make a damn good living.

That unfortunately is true. It's one reason men only constitute 40 odd percent of college students today.

True. But even the smart ones are catty and can't get along with the other women they work with.

Kinda like the "sales" chicks that take selfies of themselves on rigs. The simp men that fall for that stuff is embarrassing.

Especially when there are loads of women in O&G working damn hard to make a good living without that crap.

True. But even the smart ones are catty and can't get along with the other women they work with.

That is because men are hierarchical beings. He knows who is the boss and to whom he is the boss. This is in our DNA from the caveman days. Most sane men never mess with someone stronger/bigger than himself. During war, you obey your superior officer. You don't question, argue or discuss.

Women are not like that. There is no hierarchy of any sort, so women constantly feel that other women are impinging upon their turf. This causes resentment and petty woman squabbles.

That is fine, but that is not the issue. The question is whether women are hired even if they may not be the best person for the job just to make up numbers. Are women getting promoted and hired to senior positions just to show that women are in leadership roles? I am seeing that a lot in my circle. Even my wife has had a much easier time than me. What makes it worse is she doesn't seem to realize how hard it is as a male and constantly talks about how quickly she has "risen in her career".

There is a group of people that will work for a title as apposed to money.
Unfortunately women make up a larger percentage of that group than men.
