COVID has beaten me. After two surgeries in the last year (first delayed months due to COVID) I've lost good use of my dominant right hand. It's skeletal and I now have 14" of cuts from my palm to my elbow.

Highly unlikely. They were more concerned with stopping the muscle wasting in my hand and hopefully stopping the CRPS pain, but it will never be the same.The Fife said:

Late-Feb 2020... just out and about enjoying the day with friends when my hand started to go numb and then my elbow to palm started hurting really bad. We went for crawfish that afternoon and I couldn't peel a crawfish.
I went home and started calling doctors to have a look at me and due to COVID bull****, none were taking patients. I did the online thing and was prescribed a steroid (did nothing) and told to keep my arm in a splint for a couple of weeks while trying to make an appointment with a neurologist for an electromyography (EMG) study.
I called every neurologist in the network and only one hadn't kicked the can down 3-6 months due to COVID scare. That one did keep kicking the can down the road by rescheduling my appointment for a later date. It took over two months to get in (ETA: I told them it was life threatening as the pain is insane and my entire life was at risk of losing everything because I could not function normally).
I was diagnosed with cubital tunnel syndrome (ulnar "funny bone" nerve pinched) and by then, the damage was extreme. I was referred to a surgeon who took me in and scheduled surgery for three days later (May 2020).
I did the PT, regular visits, and various meds, pain management specialist (who diagnosed me with CRPS), attempted nerve block (stick a needle through the front of your neck into your nerve sack near the spine under x-ray to deaden the arm) it did nothing at all.
December 2020, surgeon says that wasting had gone too far so I needed to be opened back up and my ulnar nerve moved from my elbow to inside my arm (looked better this time around - and I have surgery pics) as well has have a microsurgeon graft another nerve into my main nerve and tie my finger tendons together in hopes grip strength would improve.
That surgery was a week and a half ago, and here I am.

If not for the angel of a woman who has endured my stubborn nature and has been here kicking my ass throughout this ordeal, I wouldn't be as happy-go-lucky of a person as I have been historically. 2020 was a turd sandwich overall, but I feel blessed to have been kept in relatively good spirits by someone having my back.

No. Never any symptoms or issues ever. I'm in my 40's and this was the first surgery or major issue I've ever had. My body is telling me to be more careful now, even though all other metrics (bloodwork, weight/build, physical ability, mental acuteness, etc.) are absolutely perfect. **** strikes out of nowhere and can go downhill fast.

Who knows? I was relaxing and it just happened. Surgeon said it looked like the nerve was kicked by a horse, but I hadn't strained it, bumped it, or anything else. Was out of the blue. When you bend your elbow, you tension the ulnar nerve, and I must've just bent it and it got pinched, then inflamed, then pinched harder, and inflamed more... etc., etc., etc.

I hope this most recent surgery makes a bid difference for your pain and you can continue to improve the situation. So sorry man, that really seems awful and then for it to happen during Covid on top of that. My heart goes out to you.
I appreciate that. I can hide the pain for the most part, but the ego hit from fumbling around with everything requiring tactile precision and looking like a gimp has been hardest to deal with. I'm over it for the most part, but am frustrated that many things I've enjoyed are no longer feasible. Such is life.
