When I was a kid, the only way I knew him was from that show "That's Incredible!" with Cathy Lee Crosby and John Davidson.

Remember watching him play when I was a kid. No QB could scramble like Tarkington! Seemed like he could run around in the backfield forever, until someone finally got open. Johny Football reminded me a lot of Tarkington.

That show was pre Cable right? When we had three channels and dreaded the nights the President would speak because it would be on EVERY channel.

We lived south of San Antonio and didnt get our first air conditioner until 1987. True story.

Left for college in '92. My folks got cable in '93. So yeah I grew up with 4 channels...one of which was PBS.

My parents didn't get cable until about 2010. I graduated in '91. They like to tell me about all the cool channels they get now- Game Show Network, HGTV, and Fox Sports SW. As far as they know that's all they get.
Ahmad rashad caught a bunch of passes from Fran. A real young tiger woods was featured on that's incredible. That show showed stuff like a guy trying to jump over moving cars and missing or someone crashing trying to jump cars on a motorcycle.

No joke, I was watching some That's Incredible! on youtube last night. I think I saw a reference to it on Sporcle or something and decided to look for it. The stuntman who tried to drive a rocket-fueled Lincoln over the St. Lawrence river was awesome.GiveEmHellBill said:

He only played 5 of his 18 seasons with Foreman.

Similar childhood. I grew up in Hays County. We got ABC/NBC/CBS from Austin. The PBS on channel 9 KLRN from San Antonio served both San Antonio and Austin. Some time in the late 1970s KLRU 18 went on the air to serve Austin. The FOX affiliate KBVO 42 went on the air in the early 1980s.
Also my dad was colorblind. He also paid for the TV. We didn't get a color TV until the late 1970's. RCA for the win.
I can't see color so you all must suffer.

Once cable came to our area you could just walk to the TV and change the channel:
Not terribly long ago (think 2004-2005), my cable TV had to be run through an A/B coax switch box. Half my channels were on the A side, half on the B side.Builder93 said:

Someone needs to find one of those old clips of Tarkenton running around behind the line of scrimmage, and superimpose images of the Angel of Death over the defensive players chasing him. Add Benny Hill music to it for good measure.
