I'm out here as a civilian. The paycheck makes up for the crappy food most days.
Plus flying helicopters > any other branch

That is because the Navy doesn't do stuff like train an officer to fly a helicopter, send him to a war zone to actually fly (Vietnam), then make his next assignment in artillery. My dad was a captain when he was rifted, and he jumped at the chance to be a warrant officer and fly again when the opportunity presented itself.
