actually my girlfriend's little 1 year old yorkie to be exact. I was bringing it to houston from college station to stay with me for the week and he was sitting in my lap sticking his head out the window while i'm doing about 70 down wellborn rd. then just leaps ! i look in my rear view mirror to his tiny body rolling and skidding across the pavement as i'm screaching to a halt. At the same time it seemed like my heart jumped out the window b/c i really like the little bugger not to mention explaining this to my girlfriend. But then, HE WASNT EVEN HURT AT ALL ! i rushed him to the a&m animal clinic but he was fine and acting like nothing even happened. All he had was two tiny scratches under his fur. I don't get it, I don't get it at all how he could be unscathed, but oh well, i know one thing, his days of enjoying the wind blow through his face are over, my window will remain up at all times.

I think since he's not hurt that it's ok to laugh.

yorkies are so little. he didn't get hurt because he weighs so little that him jumping out is almost the equivalent of a tissue jumping out the window.

and i agree with skinky. since puppy is fine, we must laugh at this.

I had two female roommates when I lived in Houston doing an internship - two friends from high school. Anyway, one girl had a little Yorkie and the other girl had a brother who smoked a little hippie lettuce from time to time. Girl #2's brother had been over visiting and a joint must have fallen out of his pocket.

Well, the Yorkie gobbled it up without notice and the owner came home after everyone had left to find the dog trying to walk while laying on its side. Kind of a funny scene but after watching for a while she knew something was wrong. Anyway, the dog was fine but did act pretty strange for a while!

Those Yorkies are tough!!!

Glad your pup made it since you're fond of teh little guy.

A friend of mine lost her Pomeranian walking him in a field/ park in OKLA- a hawk swooped down and flew off w/ the dog... be careful w/ the mini-dawgs!

Poor baby!

My Dad's dog is so stupid. He can't just let him get on the bed of his truck bc he jumps out at red lights, so he has to tie him. Well, he was driving down 183 going 60, when he noticed that he didn't see Memo in the bed. Turns out that he had jumped off the side, and he was just hanging by the rope attached to his collar.
Now, my dad ties him from both sides of the bed so he can't jump out from either side.

I actually had a dog jump out of my car too once. I was going about 35mph on a two-lane road and he jumped out of the passenger seat into the ditch. He actually survived it too. However he did kinda hurt his leg, but my window remains up from now on too.

When I was in second grade, my dachshund pup jumped out the window of the family car when my mom was driving about 40 down a street near our neighborhood. He ended up only suffering a cut lip.

Looks like he dodged a bullet, and has got a long life of annoying yapping ahead of him.

lmao... okay i almost died laughing at the dog trying to walk sideways, but i am laughing so hard i am crying about the dog being swooped up by a hawk...lmao

we had a dachsund mix one time and he jumped out the window of the car in our neighborhood, laneded in a ditch, and was absolutely fine. we rolled the windows up to where he could barely stick his head out, from then on.

Poor baby. (Stupid, stupid dog.) Glad he's okay. I'm glad my dog's too big for a hawk to take it. Did that woman not have her dog on a leash? Freakin' hawk would have had to fight me for the dog.

WOW! Glad to hear he's okay! My dog jumped out of the window once to chase a cat, but luckily I was only going about 8mph and just leaving the townhouse parking lot. He is ALSO just allowed 'less than head diameter' window priviledges now.

The hawk story is scary. Reason #53 I will never own a mini dog. Makes me want to feed Cheddar another Jumbone just to ensure his hawk-worthiness!

Whats up with dogs trying to commite suicide by jumping out of moving vehicles. My story will make the guys cringe. I was going about 40 and my lab decides to jump out of my truck. I guess he braced himself for the wall by spreading how his legs becuase he ended up skining his testicles to the point to where the were almost bleeding. Poor guy his jewels were so swollen and red! Plus he broke multipe nails and had a stiff leg for a couple days. Now hes terrified of the window and wont even look at the door that he jumped out of. This foolish dog now rides with his back to the door.
