college funds are set up. there's no issue with that.

i will not hire a photographer that will cause me to dip into the college funds

i've got a budget... hiring a more expensive photographer just means that i will do my own flowers. it's not that big of a deal-- you splurge on one thing and you cut back in another area.

Exactly...pictures were one of the most important things to me, so I cut back in other places like burning my own CD's instead of using a DJ. Budget for what is important to you

A great way to get lots of cool candids is to place a bunch of disposables on the tables at the reception. Guests can snap lots of great pictures of stuff you never saw because you were too busy elsewhere. Then leave a box by the door so they can drop them in when they are finished.

TC - one bit of advice - try to see if the photographer will give you the negatives (or CD if it is all digital) of ALL the shots taken for a flat fee. Rather than getting an album of proofs of the best pictures ACCORDING TO THEM, you have the rights to see all of the pics and develop them at walgreens if you want. The developing alone is where they make most of their money. A $1.50 development at walgreens may run you $30-40 at the studio.

Often times, there will be a pic that is perfect except for one minute detail and they will not include them in the proofs because of that. You may be able to crop out or fix the imperfection in photoshop and take it to walgreens to be developed.

Depending on the photographer (if they even offer it), paying for the negatives/files usually runs about the same as having them develop the best ones and put the proofs in an album.

oh i'm definitely getting either all of the negatives, or all of the pictures in digital file.

most of the ones i am actually considering will give you the negatives if you order a minimum amount of pictures (or you pay that minimum amount for the negatives). I know with our family being so large, we'll order a lot of pictures.

Definitely spend a little more on pics if you can. I scrimped a little on mine and was really disappointed. Just sucks cause I can't go back and get better pictures.

wow, rachael, I love Michelle Holland's web site. If I get married ever, that is who I would want to use

Glad you like it. I am one of her references and I would recommend her to anyone.

Very cool person to work with. It was fun to have a photographer that was my age. And she had recently gotten married so she really had some helpful hints.

I wish my pictures were still on there

GRRRRR, FAC has ruined the word "so" for me. All I can think is significant other instead of the adverb "so"

I hate to bring up the Dallas/ Houston thing (haha)... but anyone know any wedding photographers in Fort Worth? (I just thought there might be a few people from this side reading this that might know!)

I've been looking and they all seem so overpriced.

I just called to inquire about that place and the owner wasn't there but the baker did her best to help me. You're so tempting me TCLTC to look into that place... b/c it's nice.

april sound country club in Montgomery is also a place i'd check out. their price for me was like $35 a head (includes everything-- food, alcohol, the site, service, parking, security, etc.) for adults... 10 bucks for kids under 12, and free for kids under 5. from the info i have, it looks pretty and falls within our budget-- which i thought it would not. the contact there is amy peeples or peebles.

house estate was recommended by my aunt... looking there and very excited about it. the lady i spoke with was so very accomodating, and the rpices there are very good for what they're giving you. when i discussed having a pinata, children's menu, etc... she said "oh! we've got plenty of trees for a pinata!" and "our chef has done children's menus before, we can even bring in juice boxes and set up their own table if you like."

she said exactly what i wanted to hear. it's also nice that hte porperty has beenin their family for a long time and they take pride in it.

they have indoor and outdoor ceremony capabilities, so in the event of rain we'd be covered.

I can say that in the past week I have called 90% of the folks on this page and the knot (austin/houston area). thought this may help a few people looking since everyone seems to be engaged. the ones i didn't list were just too expensive or the prices were listed on the page but didn't intrigue me enough to bookmark "so far"... i like to look at everything before i decide on something.

http://www.markchenphotography.com/Temp/html/weddings.htm Mark Chen rocks the wedding affordable pocket for his package. ...featured in some bridal magazine too. I dig his a lot and is in the top 2 that I'm deciding from.

www.thirdwheelproductions.com were hilarious. Liked them a lot. Their package was $2,375 with photo album. That was their basic (includes what i believe would be the standard package).

http://www.austinphotonet.com/ willl send you a free demo cd/dvd and write you a very long personal email if you email them. In otherwords, nice folks. They have great affordable packages as well (degas package).

http://www.justsaycheese.net/INDEX.htm dirt cheap [which can be good for many] with a very traditional style in the samples i got despite their claim in specializing in everything.

http://www.memoirphoto.com/ hard to get ahold of. had to force prices out of them since they would rather do it over mail or appointment. $1,700, 250 photos. Smaller Album $150, $100 traveling ..Albums $250

http://www.charlesfalk.com/ never called me back when i asked for prices. rushed to get me off the phone too.

http://www.stamperphotography.com/ still waiting on their brochure. nice folks.

http://www.theknot.com/kl_vendordetail.html?imagenum=_9&vendorsearch=Y&category=PHO&id=64479&market=183&keyword=HOUSTON Carl W. ...wants to eagerly book you as soon as you call even if you told him you're getting married in 2020. haha ....very nice guy. couldn't for the life of me get off the phone with him because he is very interested in his work, you, and making you happy. He answered every question I forgot to ask too so that was extremely helpful. Very Cheap.

Our photographer will go to Houston.. he's awesome!! Tell him I sent you!! Click recent events to see his past weddings..you get your negatives after 1 year, and he posts them all online so you don't have to go from person to person for orders of prints! They order directly from him!

AGGODDESS, what is the pricing on the packages do you know? ...or the price of yours? They have a nice page and for those not clicking on the site, you get get to keep the negatives.

cutielonglegs@yahoo.com (if you prefer)

edit* that's funny. you edited *in* what i felt may entice more people and just posted.

I will email you about it..

Also.. he has an option different from the normal heavy album.. it's a storybook and it's like a hardback picture book from B&N.. it's sent to Italy and put together.; the pictures are sync'd together, etc.. we're doing that. Michael lays the albums out sooo nice!

I'll find a link for them..

I absolutely love these new style photo albums. I've been noticing them on various sites. The coffe table type/magazine/book style is definitely something I am interested in.

For others: Some are just C-R-A-A-Z-Y expensive (warning). $900 +++ (like on the holland website ...beautiful and i'm sure worth it though)

$495
mics for vows
the entire wedding

Nice for someone who wants it videotaped for dirt cheap.
Not my thing though, as I have no desire to watch my entire wedding w/out edits. I care about watching the highlights (vows), placing on rings, faces, walking in, etc ...that's really it. The one I'm looking at also does photgraphy and includes bloopers, personal messages from friends/family, dvd, and just my style.

Here's another affordable one...

http://www.joesimonproductions.com/services.html#

Silver Package - $999
- 1 videographer
- 2 cameras at ceremony.
- 1 camera at reception.
- 5 hours of coverage
- 2 DVD copies.

Silver Plus Package - $1299
- 1 videographer
- 2 cameras at ceremony
- 2 cameras at reception
(1 running the whole time, 1 on tripod during special events - toasts, first dance,
bouquet toss, etc.)
- 7 hours of coverage
- 2 DVD copies

...and since i haven't decided on who i will get, if they ask where you heard....feel free to say Leanne b/c i'm all for a discount. Everyone I have called for photographs have asked, and I've directed them to TexAgs and basically said "Aggiegirl" "knows your relative" or something like that. Some of you could have received additional photographs or cash for your recommendation or email addy.

i am talking with michelle holland on saturday.
FromACutie
How long do you want to ignore this user?
She's bookmarked w/me too but my only thought with her is... well, she's perfect but I want the price I get ($2,000) to include at least one photo album (not web). So I thought, well maybe I can include one normal one and two small ones (for the parents). Her cheapest one was $900, so I'm out.
ThisChickLovesTacoCabana
How long do you want to ignore this user?
my parents are on their own for picture ordering. they don't need an album-- if i know my mom, she will frame every picture anyway

michelle holland tugged at my emotional strings.
and i may be sexist, but i really want a girl doing the pics (at least until EAD gets a little more experience). she seems experienced enough to be experienced... but not so "a wedding is a wedding" as others are. she seems to really truly enjoy wedding photography. i like that about her.

Beverly Barret

Geoff is an artistic photographer as well. Limits the number of weddings he does so they stay fresh for him.

Melanie West. Love her a lot. delightful person, and her photos are artistic and natural. Her prices range from $1200-$1600

Jennie Trower very photojournalistic style. She charged someone who recommended her to me $300/hour, but no album. Raved about her.

Phoebe Rourke does all kinds of photography in Houston, but she does wedding stuff too. She's the staff photographer for 002 magazine and does a lot of fashiony stuff, but she does other stuff too - great style, eye for lighting, etc.
