Not Samsung - the ice makers suck and constantly freeze up. Between family/friends we have three of them and all have had the same issues.

Haha. I lucked out and the rib is not cheap, but frugal. Very fortunate.
Check out Sears outlet stores. They get slightly blemished items that are heavily discounted. Some you won't want but some are so minor it is no big deal. Or you replace the part that has a blemish and still save a lot . Plus negotiate the price.

Any scratches and dents outlet. Comes with the same 1 year warranty. Buy some cheap paint to cover any scratches. You'll save $1000 minimum.
Bought my LG 14 years ago from Sears outlet and still going strong. Bought my washer and dryer from Conns scratches and dents store 19 years ago and they're still going strong. Nobody sees your washer and dryer so go ahead and save some money.

That the ribs function is to protect the vitals of a person therefore not only do they honor you and love you as themselves but they look to you as protecting them too. I just dont see it that way. I would not call it *****. If my wife referred to me as her rib I would take it as a compliment as that is how it is meant. Much better then calling me bee poop.

Strange hypothetical considering a woman has never referred to her spouse as the rib.
To empathize I should understand context and understand how I would perceive it If it was said to me. So while it may be true that my wife has never called me her rib, I should put myself in her shoes and see how I would feel if she did.

Everyone uses it as a derogatory term. This is all you need.
The OP might as well said "well, my fridge broke, so I sent my dishwasher out to get a new one".
If people here get hung up on calling the wife "the rib", I cant imagine the thoughts on calling her the hole.

Glad I started this. If anyone cares we are going with whirlpool or GE... and fortunately , In addition to being frugal, my wife also isn't some sensitive wilting flower who is easily offended by Inoffensive terms.

I know this may be shocking but people look at things differently. Some people take offense where others don't. Some see a word and think A, other see the same word and think B.

People think it's stupid and overused, not offensive. It was probably mildly amusing the first time someone thought of it, then over time it became lame, like many other pop culture things. Remember when that girl made that music video about it being Friday? There were jokes and memes and references galore, most of which were funny, until they weren't.

I actually dont know anyone that uses it as a derogatory term. So definitely not everyone does. Projecting my feelings on the term onto someone else's use of the term is wrong. So it is possible that we have different groups of people that use the same term differently.
I would never use the term dishwasher to describe my wife. However I would also never correlate the use of dishwasher to the rib as both are polar opposites of meaning.
