Mainly see them still on TV broadcast copyright labels. Can't you just put a normal year like everyone else?

I'm pretty sure you mean the year 4000. And by then, we will be ruled by our alien ant overlords.

The real question here is, why do clocks show four as IIII instead of IV?

IIII was the original Roman way of writing it. The substractive IV is a modern adaptation.

They basically arent in use at all. It's not like the speed limit signs in some towns are posted using roman numerals.

I believe for numbers 4,000 and up split off the thousands part and put a line above it to indicate that you multiply that part by 1,000, then add the rest.

Most people know the I, V, and X
Above that, I've seen the Mnemonic Lucy Can't Drink Milk to remember
L-50
C-100
D-500
M-1000
or the more politically incorrect version (Lucy Can't Do Math)

and so, 8888 would be written

Roman Stone Carving Union negotiated a deal with "Big Marble" to use the Roman numeral system. Took way longer than 1,2,3, thus employing more carvers for longer hours. And requiring more stone to do it.
Everybody wins except the average Roman tax payer.

Nothing ever changes folks.
