Best rock drummer of all time, hands down.

Your music and influence will live on. Thanks for your art.

I'd take Bonham as the best but Peart isn't far behind. He was amazing.

You know what they call someone who's always hanging out with musicians?

A drummer.

Peart was the best to ever do it, and I sure wish I had gone to see them live to see him perform when I had still had the chance.

Can't
Even

Better chops than Bonham
But, let's not make this a pissing contest

Read his Auto "Ghost Rider"
Poured out his soul after the loss of his daughter then wife several months later

Going to buy a bottle of The Macallen right now in his honor.

(That was his drink of choice as he rode his motorcycle from Canada to Southern Mexico)

Dayum!

Suddenly, you were gone
From all the lives you left your mark upon

Tried to believe but you know it's no good
This is something that just can't be understood

Here.

So, I was introduced to Rush at the age of 11 when my oldest brother bought Moving Pictures back in '81. He didn't like it, but I was hooked. So, I traded a cross-stitch craft thing that Grandma bought for me for the record.
True story (and a little sad on his part).
I went on to see Rush up close many times. Pouring one out for Neil tonight.

I grew up playing drums in the 70s. I played in my room to Neil and Rush for years. I am now 53 and I have to say, no celebrity death has meant much until now. This is meaningful, and I'm having difficulty processing it.

The greatest. So thankful I was fortunate enough to get to see him live a few times. Prayers for his family and friends.

I saw him live in Boston in Oct 2012 for Clockwork Angels, and the air drumming during YYZ was alone worth the cost. You don't have to be a drummer to be deeply moved by the energy in Peart's playing.

Damn, you suck. Even this old timer saw them live circa 1981.

My dad is the biggest Rush fan I've ever known. He took me at like age 10 to see them on the Snakes & Arrows tour. I was so amazed by Neil's drum solo that I never missed another show with my dad when the Holy Triumvirate came through Dallas. Incredible memories that I am so lucky to have of Peart - the greatest of all time.

RIP Professor.

I'm still drinking the Macallen that I purchased yesterday:

Fact
When Peart was riding through the Texas Hill Country he hit a deer. He though he was going to die.

And that right there would be the single defining narrative of the rest of my relationship with that sibling.

Well, he's been married many years and has an adult child now. But, my other brother and I are still convinced he's gay.

the self depreciating humor is gold in that video. "Seven females at a rush concert. It must be a record"
