I was in Washington DC over the weekend to visit the awesome Smithsonian museums and stayed at a hotel close by. I had my maroon Texas A&M hoodie on and on trips I always have some A&M stuff on. As I waited in the drinks line, a gentleman, some years older smiled at me and said "Ah Texas A&M!" and asked me which year. He told me that he was Class of 1982. After exchanging some pleasantries, I went and sat with my family.
The next day as we were at the elevators, we met the same gentleman, this time his wife was with him. She was excited to see me in my A&M hoodie and came up to talk. Turns out that she is an Aggie too, Class of 1982 as well, and an engineer just like her husband. I told her about the hours and hours I spent at Zachary, she said she had to go through all of it. Her major was Industrial Engineering and she mentioned Petroleum Engg also. I think her husband's degree was in Mechanical Engineering. As we parted, she gave me a good old GIG 'EM! 3 Aggie Engineers in one place in Wash DC.
Whenever I go traveling, I wear my Aggie gear and always meet some cool people from the Aggie Family! My wife, who is not an Aggie, was astounded, I told her that's the way it is with Aggies and not many schools have this connection.
I saw another 50+ man in an Aggie jacket at the National Archives standing in line. Too far behind me for me to go talk.
I have met Aggies everywhere in different cities, on boats, public transport, in parking lots, and even some 10,000ft in the air, on a flight to London. Always a thrilling experience.
If you both are on TexAgs, it was great to meet you both!
