Never see anyone eating at them and they always look like ghetto rundown crap holes. I've never eaten at one either.
CNN is an enemy of the state and should be treated as such.

It's because the chicken strips there are the best kept secret.... Folks like myself have single-handedly been keeping them open for years.

In all seriousness, I am convinced mattress stores are the criminal underworld's go to money laundering enterprise. How in the hell do so many stay open in one town?

Two in one town -- i can kinda understand there being two mattress stores in town; one to keep the other accountable and prices competitive.

Three in one town -- Ehh... maybe, coming in to edge out some profits from the other two.

Four + in a town -- no way does it make sense. Aint that many people buying mattresses every day.

Hard truth right here. Their chicken planks are the best chicken tenders out there and it's not even close IMO. F'ing delicious.

I loved soaking some LJS fish byproducts in vinegar sauce as a kid. Tried that once as an adult and experienced a distinct abdominal pain for the rest of the day.

Not even sure where to find one now if I wanted to try it again.

How about 3 at one intersection , like at Knox and Central in Dallas? Bonus that they're all Mattress Firms

It's because the mattress companies are in cahoots with the developers of strip malls, driving up property values through occupancy so they can be flipped for inflated prices. Still some pretty serious legal cases pending, I think.
Well, okay then

Every few months, I get the two fish dinner they used to call Fish and More. I just do.

Used to love LJS as a kid. There were once 4 or 5 in Lubbock. Two left, and never look very busy. I eat there about once a year. Tastes great, but I feel awful the rest of the day. Once a year.....

Long John Silvers is delicious af.

And there's so many mattress stores because it's more about the real estate than the mattress sales.

LJS was super legit in the 80s and early 90s. Kind of like KFC. Obviously, things have changed.

1As mentioned several times, it's their chicken that keeps me coming back. Crispy and juicy.

The hush puppies are good too.

And a large Dr Pepper goes very well with that meal.

I eat there once a year. It's always the best idea I've ever had until the second the last bite goes down. Then I want to die.

I imagine anyone there at any time is doing their yearly pilgrimage, and there are enough of those visits to sustain them from year to year.

Wifey loves the chicken, I love the clam strips, and the fish is always fresh...you just have to peal off that ridiculous grease soaked coating. The cole slaw is sweet and good.
And we both like the old rock-n-roll music from the 50's and 60's.

+1 on the once a year Pilgrimage. Usually happens on a long road trip. There's a little nostalgia baked in from eating there with grandparents as a kid.
