I don't root for New England, but it's pretty clear that Tom Brady is the closest thing to Captain America we have in this country, and the Cowboys have been irrelevant for 20+ years.

Nobody calls them "America's team" except fanboys.

This is stupid. America's team is a marketing term and it's tied to them. Probably always will be. And the cowboys, like the NY Yankees, will always be relevant even if they have multiple losing seasons in a row. There's a reason they are worth what they are.

Irrelevant to the actual game of football. Of course, fanboys suffering from unreasonable expectations of grandeur will point to tv contracts or jerseys sold... but I mean the NY Knicks could say the same thing. The cowboys have been about as relevant to NFL football over the past 2 decades as the NY Knicks, and just like the Knicks they will continue to disappoint a lot of fans.

The Knicks will also always be relevant. Just like the Red Sox. Or the Dodgers. Or the Lakers. Or the Celtics. Or the Cardinals. And they will always be relevant regardless of their record. That's how pro sports work. These are business and marketing entities. That's it.

I live in Houston and even I realize no one cares about the Texans outside of Houston. That and they suck/butt chin sucks.

As a Cowboys fan that does not live in the past, I'm pissed that they have not appeared in a Conference Championship game since the Texans were enfranchised plus a few seasons on top of that.

I agree, but "living in the past" is still validly pointing out that in history, the Cowboys have more trophies than Houston who is still waiting for their first CC game, much less first Super Bowl appearance.

All those pretty trophies came before the Texans came into being. Despite all of Jerry Jones bluster, the Cowboys have not had anymore of an impact in the playoffs than the Texans during that time frame. Both the Texans and the Cowboys have the same number of playoffs wins (three) since 2002 (Texans first season). If the Texans suck, than the Cowboys suck also.

Also it is NFL slight of hand which gave the new Cleveland Browns the past records and history. Since their rebirth, the Browns have not appeared in a Conference Championship game either.

It matters not in the discussion of America's/Texas' team. Trophies were won by one team, not by the other. Bottom line.
