Quarter million appraisal was in 2004, they're saying it's worth $2-3 million now. Apparently it sold for $1.6 million at auction.

Love me some Antiques Roadshow. There's "circus guy" who wears the crazy plaid suits, "civil war guy", "jewelry guy" with thick NY accent, etc. But I especially like the "dandy twins" who appraise furniture.

"This is an exquisite example of the neo-Federalist style made by the Rothschild House in around 1743. We know this by the fine detailed inlay and single source mahogany. It is worth around $300."

The way they build it up you think it will be $3 mil but it's $300.

This is one of my favorites.

I saw one close to 20 years ago, I guess. Someone brings in this old ceremonial helmet they supposedly found stuffed in the attic rafters.

Appraised for something crazy like $200,000.

The old timers are having a blast because it is like a traveling retirement center; after the show they all go back to their booths and boink away at each other.

PP is the kinda watch I expect TAers to talk about when they post a watch thread, but I never see them discussed.
