First of all, it's Zachry, not Zachary.
Secondly, there are no lecture halls so it sucks for listening to a lecture in. There's also not enough places to hang out/sit between classes and the main stairs are way too narrow. Other than that it's fine.

Edit: and the bathrooms are poorly designed

Y'all have no idea how much time/tech went into that damn structure...they displays and server racks...so...effing...many

The best part is the learning steps though. As soon as the students found out about those, there was no end to the jokes.

The architects were complete tards. What a pointless career

I'm told the atrium is really nice. Others in my office think its really nice, but then again we are in a super old repurposed building, so...

When I visited in the fall I was impressed. Place is huge and modern.

modern architecture is a joke. nothing but corporate big wigs trying to maximize efficiency by using "industrial" design aka bare bones architecture. Whatever happened to the neo classical architecture that had character and was thought provoking. modern architecture and the complacency in our society is the reason why i didnt enter that career path. sad

Architecture went through the same postmodern horse**** that other art and literature went through. See also: Brutalism. They cleaned up the brutalism so looking at a building doesn't feel like punishment, but it also doesn't feel like much of anything else either.

If they make architecture that normal people could appreciate without years of "study", then dirty proles would appreciate it.

I spend ~ 10 hours a day every weekday in that damn building.

Honeymoon period was definitely over real damn quick.

Aesthetics over Function. That can sum up Zachry. exempting the electronics labs. Those are legit as hell.

Also, crowded as hell. Good luck trying to find a study spot in the middle of the day unless you reserve a room at LEAST a week prior. Can't imagine what a hell hole it will be in the next few years once 25 by 25 is in full effect.

I'll never forget that my bumpkin ass tried cream cheese for the first time in Zachry around 1997

Zachry was famous for the tile crack grout graffiti above the urinals in the men's room.

That thing shower up around the time I was leaving school. Story I heard was that it quickly became a white elephant because A&M did a poor job marketing and couldn't sell time on it

Gutted it and built a 2x structure around the remaining core interior. Have not seen in person but from pictures I've seen and people I know that I've talked to it's the typical all flash, ultra "cool" and pizzaz but no thought into actual use making it semi-dysfunctional. Kind of like that super modern cool looking chair that you'd never want to actual sit on. But, what do you expect from a Dean (and above) that sees 25 X 25 as a real goal that would be a good thing.

I had to look it up, and if I were an engineer I'd be pissed at 25 x 25. Little did y'all know you were doing all that really hard math so the University could flood your job market!

I'm an MD but my undergrad and MS were engineering. However, it's like expanding any field to get more graduates. There is a finite number of excellent students. All universities are fighting for them. To massively grow any field the only resource is at the lower end - which waters things down. Yes, we can expand some in fields like MDs, DVMs, engineers, etc. by slight adjustments, i.e., there are some candidates for med school who have the capacity to be a decent MD but not enough slots at decent schools. But, 25 X 25 is a slap in the face of all things representing quality. To meet those numbers, they'll have to take away from Tceh, Cougar High, etc. Not really the right kind of growth.
