I'm trying to start a business which will require at least me or my partner to be present at all times I think, at least at first. I was thinking 50/50 split, but now I'm considering 50/50 on days we're both there and something else if only one of us is there just to keep each other honest on nice sunny days when the golf course looks good, like maybe 60/40.

Never really done anything like this. Any GB thoughts?

Is the business centered around posting confusing questions on internet message boards? If so, I like your chances for success.

Good to hear! Thanks!

We should see revenue on a daily basis which we'd split between ourselves.

Seems like the split should be based on each of your initial capital contribution to the business, and not based on the days each person works.

so you're going to keep track of your daily revenue as well as daily hours worked to come out with a daily payout?

Sounds awesome, please post when y'all fight about who actually 'works' more.

How much of each daily revenue is based on working that day? If it is a high percentage, then maybe some base level return should be based on initial capital investment or other startup contribution, but then all return over that base level should be 100% based on hours/days worked. If it is little to none then maybe you can set up goals or some bonus structure based on hours/days worked, but the primary return is based on start-up contribution or some other agreed upon split. That way neither one is taking advantage of or nagging the other partner, but you still can choose how committed you are to earning money.

Does his wife have big cans or are you funding the purchase of those?

What if one partner comes into the office but they practice their putting the whole time? 55/45?

Or if they only practice their putting part time? 52/48?

There really won't be an "office" per se and if he can come in and get the job done in 1% of the time and putt for the other 99% of the time good for him.

I recommend installing an employee time clock that will encourage him to browse forums at the office instead of browsing forums at home.

Punch a clock and pay yourselves based on time worked.

This is a Frozen Bananna stand, isn't it? Who gets to be Mr. Manager? And, remember, there's always money in the bananna stand.

How about you put up the capital and cover opex and I'll handle working everyday? By my math I'll take 100 to your 0.

Think about it. It's much cleaner.

With the lack of response, it sounds like its the op's wife that needs the cans, so im gonna say he should got 55/45 so he can buy her some so the partner has something to nice look at.

Then when things go south and bangs his wife, he gets to play with what he paid for.

You should learn the difference between a distribution and a wage. You should probably know this before becoming a partner or businessman
