I was at a craft fair and it was on the ghetto side. They sold roasted corn. At the dressing station there was a huge tub of mayo with a spatula in it and some spicy seasoning. People were pasting the mayo on and sprinkling it with the seasoning. I almost threw up just watching.

Growing up in Tyler, the squeeze butter in salsa was completely normal to me. Growing out of Tyler, I now realize that it's just not normal. However, I was at a restaurant in San Angelo a couple of weeks ago, and they had squeeze butter on the table. No idea if people were putting it in their salsa or not, but it proves that it's not a 100% East Texas thing - it may well be 99% East Texas, though.
