If they are driving much slower than the speed limit (and they have their headlights on as well), then that is perfectly acceptable.

Until they want to change lanes and try to signal for it - was almost hit by someone doing that.

Hazard lights are to notify other cars you have a problem and need to pull over ASAP. If you can't drive in the rain because of visibility, pull over.

I only use my hazards to thank truckers for moving over from the fast lane as I blow past their asses.

I only use hazards when there's an emergency and I will mow you down if you don't get out of the way.

Seems like if it's an emergency, running into another vehicle might impede your ability to get where you are going, no?

If visibility is bad but I can see I will sometimes put them on so folks who cant see and shouldn't be driving can see my car...especially if it's tough to see the lines on the road

No, it's not. If you're such a ****ty driver that you need flashers to warn others how terrible you are, then get off the ****ing road.

Oh, and you aren't running anyone over.

Every time we've driven through Louisiana, Mississippi, or Alabama on I-10...every friggin moron has their hazard lights on during rain. I think it's even a law in one of those backward states.

Why thank you. For real though - hazards should come with a built in siren option or something.

There are some weird texags fascinations, but this one has to be up there with the weirdest of them all.

This is the equivalent to complaining that someone grabs the handrail while walking down the flight of stairs. Should they even be walking?

Sure - do we need our headlights on during the day? No - but it's a safety precaution. I think the reason you'd turn on your hazards during heavy rain is to be cognizant of other drivers so they can see you more easily.

Do I have to reverse my vehicle into a parking spot? No - but I do it for #HSE

Still way better than people who don't drive with lights on during rain (or at night). It's amazing how many people drive around like this. They're almost invisible until they are right beside you.

I don't use my hazards when it's raining but by God if there is one drop of rain on my windshield my wipers are on full speed until I can document 15 minutes of no moisture hitting my windshield

Stupid as hell because it makes you MORE dangerous than just driving carefully with your regular lights on.

It deactivates your ability to signal turns and lane changes completely in almost all vehicles. It also looks like you are signaling to change lanes to anyone who is right beside you. It is intended for DISABLED vehicles that are road hazards, not ****ty paranoid drivers. It is completely moronic to use while moving with the possible exception of creeping along in blizzard conditions.

Rather have someone driving slow with their hazards on then the idiots who think they can still drive 70 in a driving rain storm and I can tell from some of the responses that a few of you are probably one of those idiots.

A hole located. Please don't spread this bullcrap to anyone else. This is an awful phenomenon spread by morons.

If you are driving down the road with your hazards on, you should automatically lose your license for a year. Hazard lights are for either signaling you are stopped or that you need to get over to stop. ****, this country needs more comprehensive drivers education.

Curious in the harm in this other than you think its dumb. If people cant see the lines in the road you typically just drive behind the car in front of you....if visibility is bad why wouldn't making my car more visible be a bad thing

Which just makes it harder for me to see as the glare from your flashing lights hits me time and time again. Also makes it harder to tell turns assuming you use a blinker.

I live in Florida and since they started using the overheard signs to remind people, "Lights on, Flashers off when raining" we don't see it as much.
I thought Jimbo was the answer. Turns out I did not understand the question.

If you have your lights on your tail lights make you more visible. The flashing lights just makes it harder to see overall.

Because the hazard lights only make your vehicle more visible at the cost of other drivers being able to ****ing see! In a situation where actual road hazards may exist, you effectively render any legitimate road hazard, ie anyone signaling for a stopped vehicle or high water situation or wrecked stoppage, incapable of cautioning road-going drivers. Using hazards as a self-important "don't hit me" signal you put many others in actual danger.

Thanks!
