Have any of you successfully gotten rid of a time share? If so, how did you go about it. Mine is in Mexico, don't care to go there anymore, plus it is to easy and cheap to rent houses today than twenty five years ago. Any advice would be appreciated. Have to go to work, will check in later.

I always hear about Time Share Exit Team on the radio.

I would just google it and read all the reviews. You can find a good one.

There better boards to try. Travel, business & investing, real estate are all probably better choices.

Mayan, you can exchange with whoever you want.

It's in Mexico. If you're really trying to "get rid" of it, just stop going and stop paying for it. Problem solved.

Maybe go on one vacation. Nearly every resort/hotel has a time share sales team.

Depending on how high the maintenance fees are you might have to give it away.

Hopefully you can find someone willing to pay the transfer fees and take over, if not you might have to offer to pay some of the transfer fees (usually $300-$1000 once its all said and done).

I visited Maui in 2012 with family. The first day was washed out with rains. So for fun, I went to a nearby hotel for time share presentations because the tour lady said they gave out free stuff and she cautioned me not to sign anything. Unless I wanted to of course. So we patiently went through the presentations for an hour because there was nothing we could do otherwise. Lots of emotional blackmail directed to the kids saying daddy will die without a vacation so make daddy buy the timeshare. That doesn't work with me or my kids who were small at that time. So after it all, they gave me the free stuff and we hightailed out of there. On the way out, I saw a sizable number of people signing up stuff.

So dumb people do exist.

You had to go to a time share presentation to figure out there are loads of stupid people around?

A few months back I kept hearing a "sell us your timeshare" commercial on Houston radio. Can't remember the name, but apparently this type of company exists.

No,
I went to the presentation because I had a day to kill since I could not go out because of the rain and it figured I'd check out what these presentations are like and get some freebies in the bargain.

Exactly what freebies are worth sitting through a timeshare presentation?
