Tough call. 2 is one of the rare sequels that was actually good (the ones that came after were hot garbage). But 1 is more quotable and just feels like more of a classic.

I love both, but I've seen 2 more times and is the one I remember more.

Just like with the Ace Ventura movies, when I was young and naive, i believed the sequels were better. As i grew older i realized that the originals are in fact superior.
You know what would make for an interesting movie mashup? If Joe Pesci's character in Home Alone was replaced with his character from Goodfellas.

That was Home Alone 4 unrated extended edition, not Home Alone 5.

2 isn't bad, but it's not close. I don't see how anyone could say 2 is better.

Love both, but the original is best. Watched it with my 5 year-old last weekend and her hysterical laughter at the Wet Bandits' mishaps was both hilarious and kind of disturbing.
Original is much better, but 2 has the funniest overall scene, with Kevin dropping brick after brick on Marv's face. Daniel Stern kills me every time.

The problem with 2 is that Kevin literally kills the Wet Bandits several times over. The first one had more realistic shenanigans. 2 was still funny though.

So basically the same movie except Kevin gives no pretext that he expects the wet bandits to actually survive any of his traps.

Didn't know this so had to look up who she was in that movie. Damn. She improved dramatically since she was a pretty ugly teenager.

HA3 was the first one I saw because the first two were before my time. HA1 was the best but I think I asked for the HA3 remote control car with camcorder at least 3 Christmases in a row...
