I do feel bad for the fringe types because they always have trolls like this (or idiots, I guess) on "their side."

I didn't know there really was anyone who didn't believe generally accepted physics.
Do you even realize how stupid that statement is?
Further, what physics do I not agree with?

I agree with the trigonometry that states at 9.41 miles an object on earth should be 59.05' behind the curvature of the earth. It's interesting that the facts of earth do not bare this out.

By all means continue to have faith in your "authorities" and never question them.

If the earth is flat how can you fly From Dallas, N,S,E, and West and come back to dallas, no matter which direction you go?

He claimed earlier that there are no direct flights between Australia and South America (there are), the implication being these places are actually on opposite sides of a flat Earth. And that if you actually manage to book such a flight, it will be canceled because it's a ruse.

Why not send a drone off the edge to take a photo

The military is positioned all the way around the edge and turns back anyone who gets close, duh. Thousands and thousands of soldiers from... the US, I guess? They would shoot down drones.

You can't. The plane is programmed to slowly turn in an indiscernible circle as it flies.

2. There is no measurable motion of the earth.
This is the biggest part I take issue with, because it doesn't take lots of resources to prove this. Any redneck with a long range rifle and a wide open space to shoot it will know how to properly adjust their shots due to the earths rotation in order to put shots correctly on target.

  • Shooting west, you hold high because the target rotates up and towards you
  • shooting east, you hold low because the target rotates down and away.

Live gun demonstration of said rotation:

Also, to your earlier comments about gravity between two objects with mass never being measured/proven on earth, that is incorrect. Gravity between two objects was measured in a lab experiment as far back as the late 1700s. So your information here is over 300 years out of date.

If Earth is flat, where are the accurate whole flat earth maps? They should be easy to produce...a 2 dimensional scale representation of a 2 dimensional world would have no distortion. All the maps we have are 2 dimensional representations of s 3 dimensional globe and, therefore, have varying degrees of distortion (I'm looking at you, Mercator)

Where are the flat earth geographers?

3. No engineering project has ever taken earth curvature into account. Ex. Suez canal - 100+ miles and dead flat.

This is complete horse ***** Engineers and surveyors across the state of Texas begin every project with a conversion of surface to state plane coordinates (grid) which in effect of converting 2d engineer drawings to be overlain on a curved surface.

Golden gate bridge is 2 inches further apart at the top vs. the bottom. The S side is 5"inches lower as well. Both were design calculations before it was built.

I love how flat earthers completely dismiss proven facts saying there is no proof, while spouting "facts" that are completely made up.

It has to be one big troll job.

Yep. Civil engineer here. I have to deal with converting survey and GIS data from grid to surface coordinates on almost a daily basis. Dealt with it today, in fact. It's part of every project.

There are folks out there that think men can get pregnant, that you can be a woman and still have a *****, that if a child wears clothes or engages in behavior typically associated with the opposite sex they should receive gender reassignment surgery and covid happened because someone in China ate a bat at a wet market.

That's next level dumb.

The core tenet the Flat Earthers always trend back to is: "You've chosen to believe what some experts tell you to believe and I've chosen others".

In other words - there is no hard and fast rules for anything that's complicated - in the end, we're all at the mercy of the smart people who tell us what to believe. For people like this - science is a religion of sorts - they only possess the faculties to think so far and then accept everything else on faith.

Nothing about science is a religion to me - I don't believe anything anyone tells me without the theory being traced back to one of the generally accepted physics theories - general and special relativity, Hooke's law, Newton's laws, entropy, etc.

The problem with just following science as a religion is there are too many false prophets. They throw out claims like "no engineer ever took earth's curvature into account" when we literally do exactly that every single day. They parrot claims like "how could a thin aluminum can possibly hold an atmosphere of pressure?" and the reply is "gee how did that can of Coke do it before you opened it?"

In short, to them, their iPhone and GPS are magic.

You're listing off things that are basically just social issues that far left nut jobs and far right nut jobs argue about. I don't give a **** about those. Someone believing in flat earth is legitimately insane.

There's a huge difference between denying the fundamental forces and laws that govern the universe and arguing over the definitions of words we invented. The fact that they're even remotely comparable in your mind is alarming.
