I failed to mention the head football coach's wife is also the head volleyball coach. Not important to my story but pertinent to the thread.
So the coach's wife tells the BIL at the time that the girl is his. She doesn't tell her husband she's been banging my BIL. She has the child and my BIL keeps banging the wife for his first three years of university when he comes home school during the holidays. Kid has his features...so he assumes the wife is telling the truth. Over the next 20 years he keeps an eye from afar on the girl and she definitely has his features and very much looks like my wife and her sister at that age. Additionally, the couple have no other kids. So for two decades he remains the head football coach at the high school and the wife is head volleyball coach at the school. So, its seems pretty clear wife was telling him the truth that it was his daughter.
Here's where it gets very strange and sad (or I guess even stranger). Girl grows up to be a wonderful human being and very happy. Loving family of three with daughter a beautiful, tall, natural blonde that goes to university on a full ride volleyball scholarship. Graduates in four years with a good degree, starts her career and marries a good guy. Meanwhile my BIL doesn't get married until he is about 43 or so. Is an attorney and pretty unhappy with life. Finally marries a psychotic woman with a grown daughter at that time. He starts lamenting to his new wife that he never had any children of his own.
Eventually he tells his psychotic wife about the biological daughter he has never met. Psychotic wife feels sorry for him and tells him he should make contact with the biological daughter that has the perfect life. She tells him "he deserves it and the girl deserves to know." He asks our opinion and we tell him....."unless the girl needs bone marrow or something, that's the most selfish thing you can do. DO NOT DO IT."
Well, he doesn't listen to us but instead listens to his psychotic wife. So they travel across the country one day and go to the poor girl's place of employment. He waits in the car in the parking lot and the psychotic wife goes in and asks to see the girl. The girl pops out into the lobby and the psychotic wife asks if they could meet in a conference room. They go in the conference room and the psychotic wife tells the poor girl the whole story, gives her a pre-paid DNA kit with my BIL's whatever, tells her to swab her mouth and mail it in and she will see that it is the truth. Most selfish damn thing I've ever seen in my life.
Here's the happy ending: Two weeks later, the girl sends a letter to the psychotic wife with the unused DNA kit included and tells her: "My father is my father, I don't care what you say and don't want to hear from either of you ever again." That was about seven years ago.
