At first glance, I read that as "And people wonder why we have bullets" and thought you went a little too dark there.

Where did this idea even start? Does anyone honestly think these children will turn out anywhere near normal when they are adults?

I have boy/girl twins and I didn't have a chance to force some evil stereotype on them about the different sexes. They were completely different before they could talk and I was too exhausted to raise them differently. From throwing them in the air, to cuddling, to patting them they were different. She didn't want to be treated roughly like a boy and he even got mad if you patted him softly (he actually screamed if I patted him soft at night). And the girl is not even girlie. She plays in the dirt and climbs trees, but she's very different than boys.

They're different because they serve different purposes. Why can't people accept that and even celebrate the differences like they do for so many other things?

She looks like a lesbian. She must be bitter about her choice to conform to social norms and get married and knocked up by an old fashion peen.

Just because there is a news article on something doesn't mean it's normal.

Bull***** Unless they're raising them in a commune with like-minded families, it is only a matter of time before another kid asks them if they're boys or girls. Then what? They say, "I don't know"? Gender confusion is difficult enough when it comes about naturally, why on earth would you set your kid up for that intentionally??

I'd be very interested to learn what happens when they start interacting regularly with other kids or even adults that bring up the subject.

It seems that this issue doesn't really address gender stereotypes either but rather avoids identifying as a gender altogether in the hope that they won't feel pressured by stereotypes if/when they decide which gender they feel like. I wonder if "deciding" will override a lot of the activities that they hope will be preventative though as they will still face gender stereotypes once that decision is made.

I think addressing the stereotypes upfront could be just as (and potential more) useful of a strategy. Also, I'm fine with using they/their/them in cases where gender isn't stated. For instance, "I need to find a new doctor, but they need to take my insurance." It's not grammatically correct, but it's becoming more common in speech today to use "they this way and doesn't sound wrong to a lot of people. It also doesn't assign a gender to an unifentified "doctor" which can shape children's perceptions (I've seen cases where they ask kids to draw pictures of people in certain professions, and they tend to draw specific genders for a lot of occupations).

Could you imagine how disappointed they would be if one was a boy and grew up to be a total man's man out there fishing, hunting, playing football and chasing chicks.

And the other is a girl who is all about manicures, pedicures, stylish clothes, being head cheerleader and dating the quarterback.
