My golden was afraid of gun shots a lot and fireworks a little bit. We gave him cheap drugs from the vet to chill him out and would still make him go hunting and to holidays with us. As he got older we gave him a break and sent him to grandmas for those weekends and he loved it. Never asked anyone to alter their life for our psycho dog. I hate people now.

The strange thing is that hunting dogs can handle gunshots, but we're told they're terrified of fireworks.

Which is why I shoot a gun into the air instead of fireworks.

My dad is a proud Viet Nam vet and he is the guy popping artillery shells well past midnight.
He also hoards them so he can pop one at Easter, Memorial Day, Labor Day, or any other time he feels like.

One of our dogs watched fireworks with us last night. Just laid there between out two boys. Introducing him to gunfire and fireworks at an early age was the best thing for him.

The other dog (wife's dog from college) shredded a blanket inside of the kennel during the firework show...

Last night I parked in a parking lot to watch the fireworks at the Bush Library. Near us was a family that brought their dog.

The first firework went off and they had to put the dog in the truck. Within five minutes, they had packed up and left because the dog was still going crazy inside the truck.

My first thought was: "WTF did you expect to happen?"

Thirteen grand??? Put the poor dog out of his misery and get a cat. My cat hears fireworks, looks around as if to say "I think I heard something, maybe you should go see what it is." and then goes back to sleep.
