Picked daughter up from daycare the other day, she is 2. Noticed her bangs had been cut when we got home. Called daycare who called her teacher and she admitted she cut her hair b/c she claimed it was getting in the way.

My initial reaction was "oh well hair grows back" but my wife wasn't all that happy about it. Neither of our two kids have had a haircut yet either. Now our daughter looks like a young John Daly with a bowl cut.

How would you react if it was your kid?

I would be pretty mad. I would expect that teacher to be reprimanded and have her know that kind of behavior is unacceptable and it should count as strike 1.

Our daycare put my kids hair in 4 pony tails. That's how you get hair out of the way. Cutting is too far.

If we knew the teacher wellthen we might let it slide. Other than that we'd probably be looking for a new daycare.

A ponytail would have been a better choice.

My mom was a 5th grade teacher and cut a boy's hair once. The parents either didn't notice or didn't care. She thought nothing of it until she told my dad and he couldn't believe she did it. She worried about it all night, but it never came up again.

I have a 2 year old in daycare and I wouldn't be real happy if they cut her bangs, but I also make an effort to keep her hair back out of her way.

If there ever was a time to lawyer up, this would be the time.

I would be livid, first off I hate bangs so I would be super pissed that my daughter was cursed to walk around looking like that. The only time it is acceptable for a stranger to cut a child's hair is when it is at a haircut place, I would be looking for at least a few months free or someone losing thier job. If the daycare worker thinks it is ok to cut a child's hair then I wouldn't trust thier judgement at all with my child.

I'd definitely complain to the manager. That's totally out of line. I'd expect an apology from the teacher.

That being said, there's no permanent damage and no one is scarred for life.

I'd be more pissed at my wife for not sending the kid to school with a proper haircut

Sue them for emotional damages.

Should have made the kid wear a dunce cap. Would have kept the hair out of their eyes and brought the appropriate amount of shame for having lazy parents.

Man, that's kinda f-ed up. That is completely unacceptable.

Those pictures need to be side by side at her wedding reception some day.

doesn't seem like much but that is one of those milestones you want to be present as a parent.

I would be pissed, for sure. If everything is otherwise great at the daycare, then I'd let the teacher off with a stern reprimand. If there was any other little thing I didn't like, I'd be looking for somewhere new.

I think it's ok to cut my childs hair if it has gum in it or they're caught in something and the only way out of it is hair cut. I wouldn't want a daycare teacher/attendant with sheers near my kid without my permission, especially that young. You're not a stylist and I'm not paying you to trim my childs hair.

I'm not sure what I'd do or how pissed I'd be, but I know that's what my thought processes would be.

Holy hell, I'd be pissed. That's not a little trim. And right before Easter.

I'd be pissed. No way she has a license/sanitary part of the scissors. You need free stuff or new childcare.

Now you need to replace all pictures of her with pictures of John Daly. When people ask why you have all these pictures of John Daly around the house you can get irate and say that is my daughter.
