The sponsorship will roll out with the upcoming NFL Draft in April.
Artie Starrs, the president of Pizza Hut U.S., said in a statement that the sponsorship potential was "endless. He said it would be "great fun for Pizza Hut, the NFL and everyone who loves pizza and football."
Papa John's said Tuesday that its parting with the league was mutual. The company reported that its North American sales were down 3.9% from a year ago.

There are now many independent and local chains that blow the minimal-effort chains out of the water.

Coincidentally, my current favorite is Bombay Pizza.

I don't boycott things for political reasons. If I found out the owner of my favorite pizza place believed in different things than I did, I'm still going to eat there. I made fun of liberals that boycotted Chick-fila, and this would be no different.

Papa Johns sucks. I'll order Pizza Hut or Dominos waaayyyyy before Papa Johns.

Li'l Caesar's because I hate waiting and it's cheap. That said, Dough Pizzeria has a really good appetizer plate. Lots of fun cheeses! San Antonio can barely support its one single Double Dave's, and pizza isn't even the best thing about Double Dave's.

Pizza Hut's pizza and desserts are a lot better than the last NFL's pizza sponsor, Papa John's.

Pizza Hut was a luxury during my lolpoor days at College Station. I took my roommates to the Pizza Hut on University Drive, near Texas Avenue. It's still around.

National pizza chains apparently don't do well in the northeast because there are not many Pizza Huts or Papa Johns up here. Probably because there are so many really good mom & pop pizza places around. My kids liked Pizza Hut when they were growing up, but the only one within 30 miles of us closed, and that was the end of that. Pizza Hut wasn't awful, but they really scrimped on their toppings. Not a good value. I tried to eat at Papa John's once, and about halfway through the worst pizza I had ever had, I gave up. I could really get behind the take a knee movement if I found out that it's primary goal was to put Papa John's out of business.
