My wife and I have doing it nights on Wednesday and Saturday. We usually have a few drinks before hand to the point of getting a little tipsy. We used to just do it without alcohol and it was okay but not as fun. When drinking we both enjoy it and we have fun with toys or role play or something else. Do we need to drink to do it? No, and sometimes we don't when she just wants me to bust a nut so she can do something else before bed. But it makes it fun and we enjoy it.

In all seriousness, after 12 years of marriage and several years of dating before that, sometimes the "usual" isn't as fun. Gotta kick it up a notch!
I agree changing it up is necessary but if your wife needs a mind altering drug to have sex with you every time that just isn't normal.
