Yes. It's cab be used as a local anesthetic like novocaine, lidocaine, marcaine etc… still in a lot of hospitals.

While at aTm, I got pulled over for a headlight out on my way home from northgate. Had a minor in my backseat under the influence, as was I.. luckily, this guy let me go after a field sobriety.

Not 1-2 miles later (and damn close to home) I get pulled over again. I was like you gotta be kiddin' me!

Cop gets out, I have window rolled down, he's 5' behind back of my car and says out loud.. "Hey get that headlight fixed', then gets back in his car and speeds off.

I assumed he got some more important call, and/or got word that I was already pulled over and tested a few minutes earlier.
