I sat on a jury one time in JP Court with crazy old Judge Boyett's court. Five undergrads guys busted for PI and for destroying university property because they burned a heart and some initials into the grass outside one of the ladies north side dorms (can't remember which one). Four pled out, one last guy represented himself. The DA wanted us to fine the kid $5000, and 180 days community service, etc. I was the jury foreman

I asked the DA two questions; what was the value of the grass, and what was the legal definition of public intoxication? The grass was valued at $45, and PI means incapacitated to the point where you are a danger to yourself or others.

One old lady was retired from A&M, she wanted to teach these whippersnapoers a lesson. I made it clear that I was not voting for OI, and I wouldn't give the kid more than the value of the grass. We found him not guilty of PI, and fined him $45.


How can you fine him if he was found not guilty?

Quite the rap sheet for a 19 year old!! I remember the other story of the shooting of the girl in her bedroom when a group opened fire on a house.

She needs to be locked up and quickly taken to get the needle. She's not going to be rehabilitated.

There was a federal execution earlier this year. Looks like last execution of a woman in Texas was Lisa Ann Coleman back in 2014.
