My job doesn't suck. Yeah, it has some negatives, but I'm OK with them because I've truly been in a job and company that sucks.
I worked for 8 years for a company that saw employees as nothing more than a necessary expense, and they'd let you know. After the recession in '08, it only got worse. Hourly people had their hours cut, annual April RIFs, etc. Bonuses? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Yeah right! Well, I got one bonus one year for the life altering amount of $52 before taxes. Make it rain, bro! Make. It. Rain. After the economy began recovering and our competitors would begin hiring again, giving raises, etc, my company continued with the "you're lucky to even have a job in this economy" bit. PTO was a use it or lose it policy, and when I was a PM, I'd always get an urgent project that had to be implemented in a week right before I went on PTO. So, I'd spend my whole vacation half enjoying it and half working and keeping tabs on the project plan/action items. "Hey man, we're about to head to dinner and then going out to a club, want to go?" "Sorry, I have to take a call in half an hour, but I'll meet you at the restaurant. Can't go out either because I have a 1am conference call with Honk Kong." Life was good.
Got a new role that eventually morphed into me working 15+ hour days usually 6 days a week. That role almost cost me my marriage as well as made me miss a lot of my daughter's first year on this earth. On top of that, my boss was the biggest ass hole on the planet...a badge he seemed proud to carry. He'd jump my ass at 7am about something that happened the night before, but forget that when I called him at 10pm to get advice on a situation, he'd lay into me for calling him after hours when he's with his family. Oh, this is the same dick knuckle that would deny my PTO requests because of "business needs" and then scald me in October and November when I'd have 3+ weeks of remaining PTO to use by the end of the year. When the annual April RIF finally hit me, I felt relief and I felt liberated. Since I cared for my customers so much, I gave them as much info as I could to help them succeed before they walked me out. As soon as I got to my truck, I instantly regretted it. For the next couple of weeks, Dick Knuckle boss would call me at night wondering what they should be doing since "X" went wrong, or what a certain message in the customer's WMS system meant. I just answered with "I was able to figure it out, so you can too" and hung up. Dick Knuckle knew there were SOPs and work instructions I created for how to do EVERYTHING to run that operation, outside of the financial management. He was just too lazy to read them. Eff that guy.
I'm now at a company that treats its employees like you'd want to be treated. I work with a great team of educated and driven people who care for others as much as they do themselves. Yeah, the job has some negatives as all do, but I'm almost 4 years into it and haven't once woke up and said "I don't want to go to work today." I'm on PTO tomorrow. Want to guess what I won't be doing? I'm 100% certain that I won't be doing anything work related. When I leave the office, work stays there. It's a great feeling to leave work at work everyday and something I don't take for granted. Oh, I also got a substantial raise in base salary when I came here as well as now get bonuses that can cover more than tacos and a margarita at Chuy's.
I'll also add that a couple people on my team worked with me at my old company (how I was able to get on here), and we'll occasionally meet a new hire that worked there, and the reaction is all the same..."That place is horrible and I'm glad to get out." I'll be honest, if I had an offer at my old company to come back for $250k/yr and another offer for $50k/yr to muff dive into Rosie O'Donnell's coot cheese on a daily basis, I'll be doing tongue exercises to get my stamina built up.

I am a middle aged lesbian with two children. In Texas, the GOP would love to claim I am an unfit parent and take my children.
Response when pressed for proof:
I actually have 6 links, and was getting super pissed the more info I looked up...So, look it up yourself, I am not going to fight about something I know to be true, to a person who would just as soon see me in prison or dead.
