Blue Bell Peppermint was once my favorite until they came out with Gingerbread House, which was the apex of culinary invention.
But Blue Bell is truly sadistic, in that the discontinued the flavor after one holiday season. It was a move so cruel, it made Josef Goebbels seem like Mister Rogers.

Blue Bell is not available here, so we do Dreyers/Edy usually.
look at all of you thinking Bluebell anything is the best.
Their Butter Pecan and their natural vanilla bean are great but otherwise. so much no.

Bluebell is hard to beat in some flavors.
But arguing over good ice cream is like arguing over chili recipes. In the end everyone has a strong opinion but everyone wins because it is all good. Unless it sucks.
However, I do love Kroger select. The Salted Caramel is smooth, creamy and delicious.

I can get 1/2 gallon of blue bell for the same price as a pint of any fancy stuff. So 4x the ice cream per purchase. The fancy stuff undoubtedly tastes better, but not 4x better... so overall, going with average/above average blue bell is worth it over the "superior" brands
