As in you don't have a set way of saying it every time?

I just got called out for changing up how I say route. Root or Rout.

Then I realized I also don't say caramel the same way either. I say both Car-mul and care-a-mel.

I don't know why I do this or if there is any particular reason I say one over the other and then swap back.

Just curious if anyone else does this. Am I broken?

I say root and rout depending on the use.

Route 66 is root but running a route is rout.

Dad from east Texas: says warsh, ruff instead of roof, etc. The weird thing is that he just started pronouncing these incorrectly as he's gotten old. He used to be pretty accent neutral.
